Removing carbon for good.

About us

Reducing emissions is essential. But it isn’t enough. Elimini is a new kind of carbon removals company. We believe that by working together, no challenge is insurmountable. We’re building a coalition of change makers – of doers, not dreamers – determined to deliver a different future. We’re on a mission to transform carbon removals into a world changing reality. We’re deploying BECCS (bioenergy with carbon capture and storage) – one part power plant, one part carbon removals machine. With BECCS, we can remove millions of tonnes of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere – permanently – while generating 24/7 renewable energy. Our purpose is to remove carbon for good. To achieve this, we’re convening engineers, environmentalists, communities, investors and innovators to scale the market for carbon removals. By working in partnership with companies and sectors – including those with the biggest challenge to decarbonize - we can deploy BECCS rapidly and at scale. By advancing BECCS in the United States and beyond, we can help meet the soaring demand for high integrity carbon removals and 24/7 renewable energy. We can remove carbon for good. Follow us on our journey as we help to rewind the climate crisis.

  • “The whole idea is that 24/7 renewable power is going to become increasingly in demand as data centers grow, as AI grows. There’s a huge need for that commodity.” – Drax Group CEO Will Gardiner This week, the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) warned that capacity shortfalls could result in blackout risks for more than half of the US in the next decade. Elimini is ready to deploy realistic solutions like #BECCS that can contribute 24/7 renewable energy to the grid while removing carbon from the atmosphere. • Did you know global data center electricity demand will more than double from 2022 to 2026, with artificial intelligence contributing significantly to that increase? 🤯 While #AI is also expected to help improve energy security and affordability, solutions like #BECCS will need to play a role to ensure this soaring demand doesn’t jeopardize achieving global climate commitments. • An important milestone for carbon removal policy in the EU 📢 This week, the European Council gave the go-ahead for the EU certification framework for permanent carbon removals. The framework lays out 4 criteria for carbon removal activities to be certified: ◼️ They must bring about a quantified net carbon removal benefit. ◼️ They must be additional – the carbon removal is only possible with buyer action. ◼️ They must aim to ensure long-term storage of carbon, while minimising the risk of release. ◼️ They should do no significant hard to the environment. They should result in co-benefits to sustainability goals. And all activities need to be independently verified by third-party certification bodies. Read our response from Mariano Ruiz Funes Molina, VP Government Relations & Stakeholder Engagement.

    • A quote in speech marks:

This framework will create a critical foundation for scaling CDRs in the EU, including those from BECCS. But to unlock the potential of carbon removals, we need further policy action from the EU.

    • We need:
Clear targets for permanent removals
Defined end-uses for certificates to stimulate market demand
Financing mechanisms to support deployment
Better recognition of the international dimension of carbon markets.
  • This week we've been at #Verge24 which brings together climate leaders collaborating to decarbonize their operations and supply chains. Our message has been clear: 📈 To meet Paris Agreement goals, carbon dioxide removals must scale to billions of tonnes by 2050, yet only 0.1% of today’s CDRs come from technologies capable of scaling to make a significant impact. 🎯 Right now, over 34% of the world’s largest companies aim for net zero targets but 93% will miss their goals without accelerating emissions reductions. 💰 By investing in carbon removal credits, companies can get closer to their decarbonization goal while also supporting the scaling up of carbon removal technology.
