Our team had the pleasure of hosting Air Cmde Sanjay Kumar Srivastava VSM (Retd), for a fascinating discussion at Dirac Labs. It was truly an honor to engage with someone who has dedicated decades to enhancing India’s air defense capabilities and to learn about the challenges and opportunities in today’s evolving security environment. During our meeting, we shared some of the technologies that we’re developing at Dirac Labs—particularly in the realm of quantum navigation. Unlike traditional systems that rely heavily on satellite signals, quantum-based navigation tools have the potential to provide highly accurate positioning data in environments where GPS may be jammed, disrupted, or simply unavailable. This opens new pathways for secure, resilient navigation that can maintain operational effectiveness, even in the most contested settings. Our conversation highlighted just how strategically vital such technologies can be, especially as defense sectors worldwide seek to ensure reliable navigation and situational awareness under increasingly complex conditions. #IndianAirForce #IAF #QuantumNavigation #QuantumTechnology

Dirac Labs and Ashoka University have jointly secured a ₹1 crore grant from the Indo-U.S. Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF) for advancements in quantum technologies. Aishwarya Das (UG '21), co-founder of Dirac Labs, leads the startup’s mission to develop quantum sensors that enable precise navigation without relying on GPS. "I graduated from Ashoka University in 2021 with a major in Physics, where I worked closely with Prof. Debayan Gupta, leading to four research publications. One of our notable projects was a radar-based indoor positioning system that used deep learning and low-cost sensors for real-time object and human detection, which was published in the IEEE Radar and Sensors & Transducers Journal. We also explored using neural networks to solve the three-body problem analytically up to a certain number of steps, resulting in a publication at NeurIPS 2020, the same conference where GPT-3 was introduced. While at Ashoka, I also interned with the Fluid Interfaces Group at the MIT Media Lab, focusing on machine learning applications for personal health. After my graduation, I joined Graviky Labs (an MIT Media Lab spinoff) as Head of Strategy and Partnerships, where we transformed urban air pollution into sustainable materials. In early 2023, I co-founded Dirac Labs, a startup focused on developing an advanced navigation system that operates without GPS by utilizing quantum sensors. We launched with support from a NASA I-Corps grant and secured a small investment from GradCapital. In August 2023, Dirac Labs partnered with Ashoka University, collaborating with Prof. Debayan’s group to apply gravity and magnetic data for navigation and mineral exploration. This collaboration resulted in a ₹1 crore grant from the Indo-U.S. Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF) in September 2024, with Ashoka’s team working on machine learning algorithms and Dirac Labs advancing quantum sensor technology." #AshokaUniversity
