Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative - DNDi is on a mission to discover, develop, and deliver new treatments for neglected diseases, particularly for the most vulnerable populations around the world. As a #DeerfieldFoundation 2024 grantee, DNDi has made significant strides in improving access to HIV services in North Ubangi and South Ubangi, DRC. This grant year, DNDi supported healthcare workers and implemented training programs across 24 health centers, achieving impressive results, including: • Screening 1,626 at-risk children • Providing life-saving treatment to 63 children found to be HIV positive, including 42 children receiving 4-in-1 treatment and 21 children treated with pediatric dolutegravir (with government support) • Conducting follow-up viral load tests for all HIV-positive children to assess the impact of treatment on their health • Screening 8,838 mothers and caregivers (against a target of 2,500), with 167 diagnosed as HIV-positive and starting anti-retroviral treatment • Providing nutritional support for children identified as HIV-positive and HIV-exposed To learn more about DNDi, visit: https://dndi.org/ #DeerfieldFoundation2024Grantee

Friends of Manjushree Vidyapith School serves as a home and school for 300 severely impoverished children in the High Himalayas. Staffed by monks and local community members, the school's mission is to provide a safe and secure living environment for destitute children by providing necessities for survival, ensuring proper education, and offering quality healthcare. We are honored to celebrate the impact of #DeerfieldFoundation 2024 grantee The Water Trust's Clean Water for School Children in Rural Uganda project. Through this transformative project, The Water Trust empowers the poorest rural communities in Uganda, providing clean water and healthier homes for children and their families. By reaching nearly 3,000 individuals, the majority under the age of 25, the initiative has helped build a brighter future for the next generation. Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Foundation is dedicated to transforming the health outcomes of the most vulnerable individuals, particularly children, suffering from heart disease in Egypt and the broader Middle East and Africa. Their mission is clear: to provide comprehensive, advanced cardiac care to all, free of charge, regardless of race, gender, or religion. As a #DeerfieldFoundation 2024 grantee, Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Foundation has amplified their lifesaving medical services to neonates and infants born with congenital heart disease (CHD). This year, they have performed 534 pediatric procedures, including: ▪️ 238 complex procedures for neonates and infants under one year of age with congenital heart disease ▪️ 139 open-heart surgeries ▪️ 99 catheter interventions Beyond treatment, the Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Foundation is also committed to building local expertise in the region.
