After over 9 months of pre-work, DIF Labs finally launched the Beta cohort at the Decentralized Identity Foundation 🎉 Over the last 9 months, we've been working on project called DIF Labs, a Decentralized Identity Innovation Group with a commitment to supporting builders and doers in the decentralized identity space. DIF Labs is an initiative aimed at transforming how decentralized identity solutions are built, tested, and scaled. We measure things in months not years. We have three fantastic projects for the beta cohort: - Bitcoin Ordinals Verifiable Credentials Framework: lead by Brian Richter : Verifiable credentials on Bitcoin using Ordinal inscriptions. - Linked Claims: led by Golda Velez Agnes Koinange and Phillip Long : A minimal but powerful specification for addressable claims and the cryptographic linking of independently issued credentials or attestations - Veranon: lead by Alex Hache : Anonymous personhood verification using Semaphore, a zero-knowledge group membership protocol. They'll be working on the project up to February, with DIF supporting them. I couldn't ask for a better starting cohort. DIF Labs Beta cohort is also supported by a phenomenal and diverse knowledge pool of 10 experts/mentors: Ana Goessens @Anthony Fu Daniel Buchner Jelle Millenaar Markus Sabadello Nik Graf Otto Mora Rizel Scarlett Rod Boothby Steven McCown Matthew McKinney And chairing DIF Labs are myself, Ankur Banerjee and Daniel Thompson-Yvetot. It's been an honor and privilege to work alongside them. They are simply phenomenal individuals with a wealth of knowledge. Kim Hamilton Duffy has been managing the entire process, keeping us in check along the way. Limari Navarrete will be also a critical piece to our launch. Also Damian Glover has helped Labs understand it's vision during the formation periods. We have a lot to ahead of us, but sometimes you have to celebrate the small victories.
