In my last live stream I covered a topic that was extremely triggering for me: discrimination against me and my Deaf community as it relates to our speech, sign, as well as self advocacy on top of tokenism. Today I want to continue exploring the concept of tokenism in society as we look at some follow up conversation on the Eric Horne situation as well as get into the most recent Madeline Pendleton public call out regarding Madeline's treatment of Babylungs. To finish up on a lighter note I will end with addressing held comments on my channel. Let's process this shit.... Processed after stream: I think it is problematic for a boss to use an employee recently moved from LA to NYC who may be isolated or depend on boss for a living to be used this way by the boss on the boss's part due to power imbalance. Also I don't think employee is paid enough money to live comfortably in NYC and needs to be paid more. Should hearing people tell Deaf people that they won't stop discriminating against them for being Deaf if they're not being paid as an advocate? Should hearing people mock Deaf voice? Should hearing people weaponize sign language against Deaf people? Are these things discrimination? Are hearing people who argue with Deaf people to excuse doing these things to them discriminating against Deaf? Let's address the hot topics that keep me from sleeping at night. This is about Eric Horne as well as someone else who knows who she is and what she said. Processed after stream: It really pisses me off too that I struggle to communicate with these people and this is what they really fucking think of us Deaf when they treated me this way. Disgusting. I put so much effort into them. I am ashamed of myself for giving that much energy to people who don't support Deaf community. Plus Deaf people only have rights legally labeled as disabled however Deafness itself is not a disability. Associating Deafness as a disability is tied to discrimination, eugenics, genocide. ALL DEAF PEOPLE ARE RELATED TO HEARING PEOPLE. I AM SO SICK OF HEARING PEOPLE USING THEIR RELATIONSHIP TO US TO NORMALIZE THEIR DISCRIMINATION AGAINST US.
