Today Future Change - a group of young men who recently completed the Activate course in HMP&YOI Polmont completed hundreds of Christmas hampers to make sure every young person in Polmont gets a Christmas present 🎅 🎁 Why? Because young people with care experience in Polmont are less likely to get a gift over the holidays! Future Change wanted to sort that out💪🏼👀 Supported by myself, the Children & Young People's Centre for Justice (CYCJ) team, the brilliant team at Scottish Prison Service and oor Gina, the young people planned the logistics, wrote to management for authorisation, surveyed the residents to see what they would like, applied (and secured) funding from the Corra Promise Partnership and managed the budget to turn this idea into a reality ♥️🫱🏼🫲🏽 They wrote Christmas cards to every young person (and some staff), and packed every single one of the hampers👌🏼 This isn’t just about Christmas presents. It’s about learning. And about change. These young people started Activate less than a year ago with no clue about social action, community development or making change - now they embody it. They are the change. ♥️♥️ Thanks as always to Gary Brown and the NLN troops for the finding support, and to Helen Martin and the University of Glasgow CLD team for the brilliant partnership.🫱🏼🫲🏽 Seeing the development in these young guys is amazing 🤩…almost as amazing as getting all they bloody boxes out ma hoose 😂😂😂
