Developing feminist gendered analyses of armed conflict to build a sustainable international peace & planet.
About us
Founded in 2002, the Consortium on Gender, Security, and Human Rights develops and disseminates intersectional feminist and gendered research, workshops, pedagogical sources, and analyses that address the inequalities, marginalizations, and exclusions that underlie armed conflict. We focus on bridging the gap between the scholarly research, policymakers and practitioners, NGOs, and activists to engage with our forward-looking expert knowledge and policy recommendations to break through the limitations of the current “gender, peace, and security” agenda and build a sustainable and gender-just international peace and planet. We’re excited to share World Rainforest Movement’s 3-episode podcast “Women’s Struggles for Land.” This series highlights the stories of women resisting industrial oil palm plantations that invade their lands and disrupt their communities. From Sierra Leone to Mexico to Indonesia, these women’s voices expose the violent impacts of monocultures, land grabs, and carbon offset projects—phenomena that not only devastated the environment but also deepen existing gender inequalities. 🔊 Listen now: bit.ly/WomenLandPodcast #WomensRights #LandRights #EnvironmentalJustice #ClimateAction #Podcast

Colonial climate policies fail to serve Indigenous peoples and the planet. ICA is dismantling these systems and creating decolonial frameworks driven by Indigenous knowledge, sovereignty, and leadership. 📜 Through rigorous research, global advocacy, and tools for community empowerment, we’re transforming climate policy in so-called Canada and beyond. 🌟 This Giving Tuesday, your donation goes twice as far with Dr. Bronner’s $20K match. Together, we can nurture Indigenous leadership and build a movement for decolonial climate justice. 💚 Donate here: https://lnkd.in/dqXyTHb #DecolonizingClimatePolicy #GivingTuesday #IndigenousLeadership

Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (November 25). Addressing all forms of violence against women, including violence at the intersection of gender, conflict, and the environment, is critical. Women environmental defenders in the Global South, are disproportionately targeted for their activism, often facing violence, displacement, and assassination. Dalena Tran’s critical analysis of the murder of 31 Filipina women environmental defenders highlights this intersection of gender-based violence and environmental justice, emphasizing the need to address extractive violence as both a feminist and environmental crisis. 🔗 Read the full article here: https://bit.ly/3Onw2o5 #GenderViolence #EnvironmentalViolence #HumanRights #Feminism
