Colusa Indian Energy is excited to announce the hiring of Kevin Blaser as our newest VP of Business Development! Kevin was the Managing Director, Energy Systems for Bakinaw Federal Contracting and the Business Development and Energy Operations Manager for Migizi Economic Development Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan. He was part of the team responsible for all aspects of energy development for the Tribe including its MISO (Midwest Independent System Operator) electricity market activities. Kevin was instrumental in crafting SCIT Tribal Ordinance 35 that established the first Tribal Electric Authority in the Midwest. He also worked on the team that formed the Tribe’s first SBA 8(a) certified entity, Bakinaw Federal Contracting. Kevin was also part of the team that started Migizi Energy Services, a Tribal energy consulting practice. Prior to working for the Tribe, Kevin spent many years in the financial and capital markets industry, most notably as the Senior Portfolio Manager for a specialized asset manager in Chicago. This week, the Office of Indian Energy team participated in the National Congress of American Indians 81st Annual Convention and Marketplace in Las Vegas, NV. Our Director Wahleah Johns addressed the plenary session, where she highlighted current funding and technical assistance opportunities, and hosted the “Tribal Energy Sovereignty & Clean Energy Transition” breakout session. The session featured representatives from Blackfeet Community College, Colusa Indian Community Council/ Colusa Indian Energy, Picuris Pueblo, and The Coeur d'Alene Tribe who showcased their energy deployment projects!
