I empower leadership teams to do the impossible, even in disruptive times | Certified Executive Coach | Facilitator | 15+ years driving revenue in tech

Fintech friends - I'm speaking at Money20/20 ! In a full circle moment since leaving PayPal , I'm so excited to support a joint track for Rise Up & Amplify at #Money2020USA -- programs championing women, non-binary, of color, and underrepresented leaders in fintech. I experienced so much career growth over 10+ years in fintech. And yes, I pursued that growth. But none of it would have happened without the leaders who supported me. It really is an honor to bring what I do now to this stage. Thank you to Bridgit Antwi and Monisha Chakrapani for the networking help to explore how I could support these programs. Thank you to Samantha Pidoux for the conversation that got us here! P.S. If you're going to be in Vegas, please say hi! P.P.S. I empower leadership teams to do the impossible, even in disruptive times | Certified Executive Coach | Facilitator | 15+ years driving revenue in tech

Join us this Monday Sept 23rd at the free & virtual #MeasuringInclusion Book Launch Festival 🎉 I’ll be in conversations with author Paolo Gaudiano & other thought leaders on #DEI, the backlash, and how to tie DEI initiatives to financial success. ▶️▶️▶️ Where does the work I do fit into all this? As someone who was among few women of color in director+ roles in fintech, who had a reputation for "making anything happen", I believe two things need to be true to retain your best leaders and grow their impact: #1: They can navigate highs AND lows #2: They feel included in their environment I enable #1 with measurable success, and Paolo's book makes a powerful new case for #2.      This event is free & flexible with short talks all day I'm on @ 11am ET w/ Maria Morukian and Lily Zheng ▶️▶️▶️ Don't miss out - get your free ticket here: https://lnkd.in/ecGzsaws

  • 👇 Get 5 tips below from "The Power of Mentorship," a panel moderated by Farah Hussain last week at the 8th annual Startup Boston Week. The program was so lucky to have panelists Thara Pillai (Harvard Innovation Labs), Wafaa Arbash (C10 Labs), and Deepanshi Bansal (ShineQuo). Here are 5 of their helpful tips for finding a mentor and making the most of a mentoring relationship! 1️⃣  Know your needs Be clear and specific! This will help you seek out the most relevant mentor profiles and to structure your engagement accordingly. 2️⃣  Leverage your existing network, and build it for the long-run Use the communities and connections you already have to find and build new mentoring relationships. Not everyone you connect with will be someone you seek help from immediately. Still have conversations from a place of curiosity and learning. This is relationship-building for the future. 3️⃣  Be prepared - and do the work Be proactive in finding mentors, and making the most of the time with your mentors. Set up the meetings, establish desired outcomes together, bring agendas with your questions and updates, do the work in-between. 4️⃣  "Date" first to find the best fit A mentorship is a two-way relationship. Talk to multiple people over several sessions before asking someone to be a mentor. Seek out relationships where you have psychological safety, and feel empowered. 5️⃣  Work together for a length of time that meets the need There's no standard length of time for a mentorship. In a mentorship that's going well, sustain a cadence and mentoring period that works for both you and the mentor, that meets your original need. ▶️▶️▶️ What would you add? Thanks to Grace Walsh Stephanie Roulic Lauren Rich, aPHR™ for bringing this panel to life and all the support. I empower leadership teams to do the impossible, even in disruptive times | Certified Executive Coach | Facilitator | 15+ years driving revenue in tech

As I wrote yesterday, today I’m happy to share the output of interviews with 22 executive women of color about their experiences in leadership. We’ve already seen the data: women represent roughly 1 in 4 C-suite leaders, and women of color just 1 in 16.* Numbers help us understand scale. How can you act on numbers effectively? Get insight into the nuance behind them. In the case of people data, voices are a path to get there. So I’m sharing with you today a compilation of 22 women's perspectives that you don’t get to hear often. My intention is for these women, and women like them, to feel seen and heard – – and to benefit from recommendations on how to find empowerment in systems that are too slow or too myopic to directly support them. Today’s article is Part 1: → 22 interviews → 18 direct quotes → 6 key takeaways In one week, you’ll get Part 2: → 3 primary recommendations → 3 sub parts  → Power in your hands Why read today’s piece? To see that you’re not alone. To appreciate the nuance. To reflect, and discuss. When we get an opportunity to see the world from an underrepresented lens, it’s an invitation for connection. ♻ Please read, like, comment, and share with others who will benefit.  Can’t wait to hear your thoughts and experiences. #leadership #careers #inspiration *McKinsey & Company & Lean In “Women in the Workplace” report, 2023.

  • Last month, Farah Hussain was the inaugural guest in a new leadership series by AnitaB.org called Leadership, the Next Level designed for women seeking to grow into director and VP roles. As a executive coach and former Fortune 500 director, Farah spoke with hosts Michelle Rakshys and Stephanie Tung about topics including: 🔸 How accountability looks different at a senior level -- you are far more accountable to your peers as equal leaders of influence in the organization 🔸 Operating at a higher degree of independence -- you are now setting the direction and solving the problems 🔸 Being an observer -- Your work product is no longer the end all, be all. It's important to be aware of who you are (and want to be) within a larger context. 🔸 Managing people who have skills and expertise you don't have -- leadership skill becomes more important than subject matter knowledge 🔸 Understanding what it takes to get to the next level -- the documented and the hidden dynamics In these senior roles, developing your own leadership style is also an important part of your effectiveness and future growth. 👉 Farah coaches leaders who are already at the director+ level who want to continue to grow in their confidence and influence. DM her or this page to inquire about 1:1 executive coaching for you or your employees.
