The U.S. Senate approved a bipartisan federal spending bill early Saturday morning that averted a government shutdown and marked the end of a chaotic, high-stakes week in Congress. The bill authorizes continued funding of the federal government at current levels for three months and provides additional disaster relief and farm aid. The House overwhelmingly approved the measure on Friday evening with support from every Democrat and more than three quarters of Republicans.

CNBC's Jim Cramer on Friday warned novices against day trading, referencing an article from the Wall Street Journal that described how more investors are developing serious gambling addictions to risky market trading. "We need to help those who're getting addicted, and we need to stop those who might become addicted," he said. "After all, the markets were created for investing, not day trading on the direction of stocks. There's a big difference between making an informed investment and pure gambling." The Wall Street Journal's Gunjan Banerji chronicled how investors, primarily men, are attending Gamblers Anonymous meetings and seeking treatment for compulsive gambling on the market. Banerji explained that many were drawn into trading and betting during the pandemic boom, adding that other risky activities like sports betting have risen in popularity. Like sports betting, she continued, apps make it easy for anyone to trade stocks and cryptocurrency. But while popular sports bett

CNBC's Jim Cramer reviewed Friday's market action, dubbing the session an "exquisite moment," where stocks opened weak, but the averages climbed by the close. While he said this particular moment has come and gone, he listed ways investors can recognize one in the future, saying these conditions can yield big gains. "We used to call days like today 'exquisite moments.' Those are moments when the bears overreach. They get ahead of themselves because they don't know when to quit," he said. "We had one this very morning." After a difficult week on Wall Street — the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped 1,100 points in a single session and posted its longest losing streak in about 50 years — the index bounced on Friday. The 30-stock Dow gained 1.18% to close the week while the S&P 500 climbed 1.09% and the Nasdaq Composite added 1.03%. The House of Representatives approved a bipartisan federal spending bill Friday and sent it to the Senate, just hours before a midnight deadline to fund the government. It was unclear Friday whether the Senate could pass the bill before 12:00 a.m. ET, when funding technically lapses. The bill continues funding the federal government at current levels for three months, and provides disaster relief and farm aid.

Zepbound is no longer just approved for weight loss. The FDA just approved Eli Lilly and Company's weekly injection for obstructive sleep apnea, or OSA, which refers to breathing interrupted during sleep due to narrowed or blocked airways. The FDA said it's the first medication approved for OSA. Zepbound is specifically cleared for patients with obesity and moderate-to-severe OSA, and should be used with diet and exercise. Here's why that's important: Roughly 20 million of those people have moderate-to-severe forms of the disease, but 85% of cases go undiagnosed, Eli Lilly previously told CNBC. What's more, the new approval could potentially expand insurance coverage for Zepbound, which, like other weight loss drugs, is not covered by many insurance plans. Notably, Medicare Part D plans can cover obesity drugs if they are approved and prescribed for an additional FDA-approved health benefit. #Lilly #Zepbound #GLP1s #obesitydrugs #FDA #sleepapnea https://lnkd.in/gf8r3NRg
