About us
EIT Climate-KIC has created one of the largest Community of organisations and individuals dedicated to climate innovation worldwide. EIT Climate-KIC is made up of Corporates, smaller companies, Cities, Universities and research institutes, NGOs, individuals and more, with the purpose to orchestrate solutions together to tackle climate issues and speed up the rate of decarbonisation in Europe and beyond. To bridge the gap between climate ambition and current reality, we need everyone, everywhere working together right now, connecting in a common space, sharing experiences and outcomes, and learning through practices. Together, we can make abstract concepts concrete and have a systemic approach to change. Because a Community is greater than the sum of its parts. #SystemsChangeNow

"Indigenous people have a very intimate knowledge of environmental conservation. [...] This knowledge that nature provides and teaches us, we share it, and we change along with it." We had the privilege to interview Lázaro Mecha, Chief of the Indigenous Congress MAJE EMBERA DRUA of Panama, at COP16 Colombia. He shared insights about the deep knowledge and relationship that indigenous communities have with nature, and the importance of listening to their voices to protect human rights and live harmoniously with our ecosystems.🌿 Watch the teaser below and go to our Community platform Climate-HIVE to see the full interview. 🎤 "Investing in skills without rethinking the whole system first will waste resources producing more of the thinking we are trapped in and fail to prepare us for a volatile, uncertain world. We need a transformative approach to human development—experiential, relational, and adaptive—focused on learning, integrating AI, and storytelling, not clinging to outdated models." With these words, Dr. Kirsten Dunlop, CEO of Climate-KIC, supported a radical systemic transformation that goes beyond skills development during the High-Level Climate Champions debate at COP29 Azerbaijan. Read more about this thought-provoking event below. Do you also believe we urgently need a more systemic, nature- and human-centric approach to transform our current extractive models? In a surprising turn of events, our CEO Kirsten Dunlop, who has been a proponent of investing in human development, capabilities and skills throughout her career, participated in last night’s High-Level Climate Champions debate at COP 29 on the ‘AGAINST’ team, responding to the motion: “Investing in skills is THE climate commitment that counts.” This thoughtful and provocative format puts debate front and centre, building creative tension and requiring debaters to reach for arguments outside of their norm which provokes deeper thinking about assumptions and institutional habits. "Be careful what you wish for," Kirsten began, as investing in skills today often serves a productive, extractive economy. She went on: “Investing in skills without rethinking the whole system first will waste resources producing more of the thinking we are trapped in and fail to prepare us for a volatile, uncertain world. We need a transformative approach to human development—experiential, relational, and adaptive—focused on learning, integrating AI, and storytelling, not clinging to outdated models. Climate action and education reform must be interconnected, emphasising systems thinking and coordinated solutions. “We keep searching for THE single silver bullet, THE one thing to prioritise. But it doesn’t exist,” she said. “We don’t need massive investment in skills to scrap fossil fuel subsidies—we need courage.” A big shoutout to the participants, the jury, the organisers, and the High-Level Champions for an unforgettable event! The event was presented by LinkedIn and curated by Debatable (by Kite Insights). ❓What’s really at stake at COP29? As COP29 Azerbaijan just started, it’s easy to get lost in the whirlwind of information coming up. But why does this COP matter, and what will it mean for climate communities and the whole world if key agreements aren’t met? 🎧 In our latest How Could We? episode, Anne-Sophie Clulow-Garrigou interviews Megan Rowling, editor of Climate Home News, to pull back the curtain on COP29’s most pressing challenges and the tough decisions facing global leaders in Baku. In this episode, Megan Rowling provides an insider’s perspective on: • The key challenges and critical objectives for COP29 • The climate finance gap, why developed countries are struggling to meet their financial commitments and the push to involve emerging economies • How the failure to agree on climate finance could impact each country's nationally determined contributions (NDCs) and prevent ambitious climate action, particularly for developing nations. • How shifts in major powers, like a potential U.S. withdrawal from the Paris Agreement post Trump election, could influence or undermine international efforts, and what that means for global climate action. Whether you're attending COP29 or following from afar, this conversation will deepen your understanding of what’s at stake. 🎧 Listen now on: Spotify: https://bit.ly/3AyhfE1 Climate-HIVE: https://lnkd.in/eZJSBVdC As a Climate Innovation Community, we have the power to drive transformation and changes in the world, even in times of fragmentation.
