👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 New Roblox Safety Features 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Today Roblox announced a plethora of new safety features geared toward accounts of users under age 13. Some of the new functionality includes but is not limited to: 1. Linking parent accounts to under age 13 accounts. 2. Users under 13 no longer being able to message users on the platform outside of games or experiences (platform chat). 3. Improved content labels and maturity ratings. While we are ALWAYS happy to see steps toward safer platforms, the reality that many of these features must be enabled and require an account be set up as “under 13,” is not lost on us. The reality is many parents simply don’t want to engage at the level required to enable these settings, don’t fully understand how, or even don’t know their child uses the platform to begin with are all barriers to a safe experience for young gamers. What can you do to help spread awareness about safe online gaming practices? 🫵🏻🤔 So glad you asked! At the beginning of 2024, as a part of our ongoing research into exploitation in online gaming, ClickSafe Intelligence launched a survey examining adverse experiences in online gaming. We sought to better understand what gamers encounter during their engagements with other users, beyond exploitative focused behaviors, instead looking into bullying, harassment, and even requests for photos and personal information as well as gaming communities on other platforms such as Discord and Social Media.
