As threat actors leverage asymmetric operations to attack #criticalinfrastructure, they only need to be right once, while the defenders must be right every time. That’s where actionable threat intelligence comes into play as an equalizer - to utilize knowledge of your environment - coupled with insights into attacker activities to reduce risk, detect attacks, and better support your response and recovery efforts against threat actors. 🛡️ Enter xDome Threat Intelligence, a core element of Claroty's Advanced Threat Detection module: https://hubs.li/Q02Y6wVp0

Researchers from Claroty’s Team82 have highlighted significant security vulnerabilities in the OvrC cloud platform used by businesses and consumers for remote IoT device management. Deployed globally in the communications sector, they identified 10 distinct vulnerabilities that, when combined, enable attackers to execute code on devices connected to the OvrC cloud remotely. Both #OvrC Pro and OvrC Connect are impacted, and updates were released last May 2023 by way of advisories from the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), ICSA-23-136-01 for eight vulnerabilities, and the two remaining issues were addressed in an update announced Tuesday. “Our research uncovered 10 #vulnerabilities in OvrC Pro, which provides visibility, troubleshooting, and diagnostic data for remote management of devices, and OvrC Connect, the company’s mobile app that enables initial troubleshooting and management capabilities,” Uri Katz detailed in a Tuesday #Team82 blog post. “Many of these issues we found arise from neglecting the device-to-cloud interface, a pattern we’ve observed in numerous other IoT platforms." In many of these cases, Katz highlighted that the core issue is the ability to cross-claim IoT devices because of weak identifiers or similar bugs. "These issues range from weak access controls, #authentication bypasses, failed input validation, hardcoded credentials, and #remotecode execution flaws.” https://lnkd.in/dFB6hb8J
