The City Council, on Monday night, appointed Vice Mayor Mike Pineda as Avondale’s Mayor through Dec. 31, 2024, to fill the seat recently vacated by Mayor Kenn Weise. Mayor Pineda, who won the mayoral election in August, will be sworn in again in January 2025, when his four-year term begins. The City Council also appointed Jeannette Garcia as Councilmember, to fill the vacancy created by Mike Pineda stepping into his role as Mayor. Jeannette Garcia was one of three people who won the Council elections in August. Congratulations, Mayor Pineda and Councilmember Garcia!
