Today, a new peer-reviewed article that was published in NEJM Catalyst shows Cityblock's Advanced Behavioral Health Program led to a significant decrease in inpatient utilization and healthcare costs for Medicaid members with severe mental health conditions. Here are some key takeaways: ✅ Value-based contracts that integrate medical, behavioral, substance use disorder and social care driven by community health workers, can enable effective integrated services and meet public health needs, for populations on publicly funded health plans. ✅ Our particular community health worker-led, integrated model of care can improve access to evidence-based care for people with psychotic disorders and substance use disorders, including long-acting injectable antipsychotics, medications for opioid and alcohol use disorders, and social care navigation. ✅ This examination of Cityblock’s ABH program shows a statistically significant reduction in inpatient hospitalizations and total cost of care and makes the case for further investment in public health. We’re encouraged by these results and want to extend a special thanks to lead researcher and Head of Behavioral Health at Cityblock Ruby Mehta, with support from Daniel Sellinger, Michael Tang, MD, MBA, David Dayan-Rosenman, MD, MS, and Pooja Mehta. Bringing better care to communities where it's needed most.
About us
Cityblock was founded in 2017 as the first tech-driven provider for communities with complex needs. We deliver better care to where it’s needed most, investing upstream in highly personalized, prevention-oriented health and social care to ultimately drive down costs and improve outcomes. Our tech enables scale by bringing together practical information, coordination, and communication for our members and our care teams. We are adamant about building a radically better member experience for people living in lower-income neighborhoods that have never been prioritized. And we won’t be satisfied with anything less than transforming the way that health services are delivered in previously underserved communities across the U.S. Join us! cityblock.com/careers

Ruby Mehta, our head of behavioral health, shared her perspectives on how the U.S. Surgeon General's recent “Advisory on the Mental Health & Well-Being of Parents” can take their recommendations a step further towards supporting the 74 million Americans on Medicaid. As a parent of three young children, Ruby has experienced firsthand the pressures of parental stress. When coupled with social and financial barriers, these pressures can be immense for parents. Read her perspective in STAT on ways that the parental mental health crisis can be addressed, specifically, for those in marginalized communities. #Medicaid #ParentsandFamilies #MentalHealth #CMS #SurgeonGeneral #publichealth #communityhealth #SDOH https://lnkd.in/gzPt2cJJ
