During our last City Council meeting, Mayor Joe Abu-Ghannam presented a proclamation to Annie Cronan Yorick, Chair of the Human Rights Commission, and Ashley Swanson, Commissioner and Secretary of the Human Rights Commission. This proclamation honored and acknowledged the significance of International Human Rights Day. On this day, which is celebrated annually around the world, we commemorate the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the General Assembly of the United Nations. This day laid the cornerstone for the acceptance of rights, equality, freedom, and justice for all human beings, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, language, political, or other opinions. On the 76th anniversary of the event, we, as a city, encourage all residents to work together toward creating a more united and diverse community.
