Mayor Whitmire had a productive meeting with Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick today. They discussed several crucial topics that are significant to the community. The Texas Legislative session begins next month, and it's important for the city and state to collaborate on issues including public safety and infrastructure. The partnership will help strengthen the city and improve the lives of all Houstonians.

Today, Mayor Whitmire celebrated a special milestone for the Houston Fire Department. Seventeen dedicated individuals are graduating from the new Rehire training track, a program designed for retired firefighters returning to duty or those who had moved to other departments but are now returning home to HFD. This marks the first graduation for this track, a testament to Chief Muñoz's 'Reignite Your Passion' campaign, which called back those who once served and are ready to serve again. These rehires are returning to the streets they've previously served, bringing renewed passion and commitment. Congratulations to the new cadets, stepping forward to begin their journey. Together, these men and women embody the strength, resilience, and dedication of the Houston Fire Department.

Mayor John Whitmire, Houston Fire Chief Thomas Munoz, At-Large Council Member Twila Carter, and District E Council Member Fred Flickinger join together for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony at Fire Station 101. Originally part of Kingwood's annexation into Houston in 1997, the station's sleeping quarters underwent a major design overhaul starting in February 2022, marking a new chapter in support for our first responders.
