We are designing a community where all women can participate, prosper and reach their full potential.
About us
The Women's Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation was founded 25 years ago by a group of donors who wanted to improve the status of women and girls in our region. Our mission is to lead our community in ensuring the economic self-sufficiency of women and ignite a shared desire to improve it. We are passionate about creating systemic change that positively affects women and their families through leadership, groundbreaking research, and investing in projects that improve attainment of self-sufficiency. Always at the table, the Women's Fund provides a strong voice for women in our community. We bring together community members and decision makers from government, non-profits and the business community, so we can solve big community problems faster. We know that women are disproportionately affected by poverty, as they tend to hold jobs in low-paying sectors and bear greater responsibility for caregiving in their family. In fact, in our region, nearly 20 percent of women are living in poverty, and of the children in poverty, 74 percent of them live in a single female household . If we help improve the circumstances that led to these women working in poverty, we believe it will generate positive outcomes for our entire community. There are ten broad factors affecting a women's economic self-sufficiency, and we concentrate on four areas (employment, child care, living wage and training & education) to help advance our region's resources.

The Women's Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation is grateful to the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Women’s Initiative for hosting Professional Series, “Boardroom Balance: Bringing Women to the Table” on Thursday, December 5. This inspiring event featured an incredible panel of leaders including our own Rajani Menon, Director of Civic Engagement; Carol Butler, President of the Goering Center; Nancy Grayson, President and CEO of Horizon Community Funds; and Adrienne Vannarsdale, CFO of River Cities Capital. The discussion highlighted the importance of board service, how to secure a seat at the table, and the transformative impact it can have on careers. Thank you for allowing us to be part of such a powerful and essential conversation!

Did you know Ohio’s state budget plays a huge role in shaping policies that impact women and families? On Tuesday December 10, our own Holly Hankinson represented The Women's Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation and attended a state budget training event hosted by The Center for Community Solutions in Columbus, OH. It was an incredible opportunity to learn how the budget process works and how we can advocate for policies that create lasting change next year. Throughout the day, we heard from bipartisan elected leaders, state government representatives, local policy experts, and journalists covering the statehouse. Understanding the state budget might seem complicated, but it's essential to shaping a brighter future for Ohio’s women and families. Swipe through to see highlights from the day and learn more about why this work matters!

Exciting News! As The Women's Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation approaches the 20th anniversary of our groundbreaking Pulse: A Study on the Status of Women and Girls in Greater Cincinnati (2005), we’re thrilled to partner with valued instituions of higher learning like UC Blue Ash College and Associate Professor, J.A. Carter to update this resource. Instead of a traditional report, we’re creating an interactive online data dashboard—a dynamic tool for understanding the state of women and girls in our region today. Thanks to the hard work of students in Carter’s class who gathered data on housing, education, economic security, and childcare across Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana, we’re building a platform that will empower organizations and communities with accessible, actionable insights. Kudos to Applied Research Director, Dr. Travis Speice for taking on this task and speaking directly to UC Blue Ash students as part of the process. Stay tuned for the launch of the dashboard and future infographics to bring this data to life! Together, we’re shaping a brighter future for women and girls. #WomensFund #DataForChange #CommunityImpact

This group is about action and impact, supporting our Appointed graduates and driving meaningful change in our communities. Here’s what AIM is all about: Sharing Opportunities: Helping graduates navigate the appointment process with shared resources and support. Building Connections: Serving as ambassadors and volunteers for the Appointed program. What’s next? Our first project kicks off in Q1 with the Heart Mini on March 16, 2025, in partnership with the American Heart Association.
