  • So far this year, over 2,000 people have become CIMA members across the UK & Ireland. After such hard work throughout their studies and successfully applying to become a member, we were delighted to meet many of them at the recent New Members' Celebration in London. We were delighted to be joined by CIMA President Simon Bittlestone, record breaking climber Bonita Norris and Vice President - UK & Ireland Paul Turner FCMA, CGMA.   Maria Black ACMA, CGMA tells us her story and how much this step has meant for her both personally and professionally.

  • Following this year's success, we are delighted to announce that the AICPA & CIMA ENGAGE UK & Ireland 25 Conference will take place on 8 and 9 October 2025 in London.   With the latest insights on sustainability, technology and the business needs being faced by all organisations, ENGAGE 25 will help you evolve by turning the pace of change from a challenge to an opportunity.    Registration is now open and you can take advantage of the Super Early Bird discounts that are available until 31 December 2024.   Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/gv3k33c6

  • This time last week, we had a fantastic evening at the MShed Bristol for the CIMA South West England & South Wales Area annual flagship event. This year's event was entitled; Leading through uncertainty: An evening with Professor Sir Jonathan Van-Tam MBE, Former Deputy Chief Medical Officer. Our keynote speaker, Professor Sir Jonathan Van-Tam, talked to us about leadership through uncertainty, his personal leadership journey including the importance of ‘followers’ and the team around you. His key message being ‘to lead well you must know yourself’!  He also provided a brief insight into working with No. 10 Downing Street. We were also joined by special guest, His Majesty's Lord Lieutenant Mrs Peaches Golding OBE CStJ. Peaches gave us an insight into her role as Lord Lieutenant and presented CIMA member, Will James MBA FCMA, with a CIMA Bronze Medal. This medal was awarded to Will for his considerable and invaluable contribution to CIMA. Many congratulations Will James MBA FCMA on your achievement. The event was also a chance to re-connect with fellow professionals across the Area over a buffet and glass of wine. Finally, a special thanks to the local network of volunteers from CIMA South West England & South Wales Area, especially; Robert Dickenson, Mark Woodward FCMA, CGMA, MSc, Susan Coffey, David Johnson, and Emma B., to name just a few.

David Culley BA FCCA FIoL delivered an engaging day with the opening session being ‘AI, the most important conversation of our time’. Tom Ormsby joined for an interesting fireside chat about implementing AI and delegates had fun using NLP (ChatGPT, Copilot) by giving it difference personas, including how to explain to Henry VII what AI is! David also gave us an understanding of how AI is evolving, ethics and governance issues and how to futureproof your career by maintaining and increasing your digital skills and developing skills which are not being replaced by technology. Pictured is the wonderful team of CIMA volunteers and thanks to Michael Beech, Filip Wilary, JULIA LEASK, Hasmukh Mistry, Graham Fellows, Dr Henry L. and Elizabeth Redpath
