2025 is shaping up to be a defining year for cybersecurity and AI. Our 2024 Engagement Summit brought together more than 700 members of our Cengage Academic teams, focusing on messages of growth, innovation and momentum. SVP, GM North America Higher Ed, Edwin Robles, and SVP, Cengage Academic Product, Cheryl Costantini, opened with keynotes that reinforced how products and greater go-to-market effectiveness will fuel how products will fuel growth and enable educator and student success. Driven by this purpose, we are increasing our investment in our products for 2025 and embracing the latest developments in technology to improve learning. We’re honored that Cengage authors and instructors joined the event including, Corinne Hoisington, Melanie E. Peffer, Ph.D. and Greg Mankiw. Corinne shared her perspective on the impact of AI in education and powerfully reminded us that “old ways won’t open new doors” and to “approach AI with a sense of curiosity and openness, rather than fear.” We are already in the AI revolution, and it's leveling the playing field. SVP, GM NGL School, Marty Lange, launched the K12 meeting celebrating the hard work and dedication of our teams, encouraging colleagues to recognize their impact with teachers and learners. He also highlighted the significance of our high-quality instructional materials built on the foundation of our partnerships with trusted brands like Big Ideas Learning and National Geographic Society. Additionally, the National Geographic Learning School team announced a substantial investment in social studies, CTE, and AP products and technology, setting the stage for continued success. Beyond the informative sessions, colleagues enjoyed catching up, connecting and participating in various group activities, including Cengage trivia. Employees at our Cengage Learning Distribution Center (CLDC) in Kentucky participated in GO Pantry’s Christmas GO Box Project, which provides emergency food relief to local students that are severely in need of extra food on days that schools are not open. Together employees filled an entire pallet with food and goods in addition to a monetary donation. Trisha Owens, Sales Leader, Inside Sales, who organized the initiative explains that “Giving back is a cornerstone of our CLDC teams. Today is International Volunteer Day, created to acknowledge the spirit of volunteerism at the local, national and international levels. At Cengage Group, giving back is ingrained in our culture, as highlighted in our Credo, where we emphasize accountability to and for each other. As part of this commitment, our employees in the U.S. and Canada receive a paid day off annually to volunteer in their local communities. In honor of International Volunteer Day, we are proud to share the recent volunteer efforts of 30 members from our Disability & Chronic Illness Coalition (DCIC) Employee Resource Group (ERG). Here are a few highlights: 🚶♂️ The Perkins School for the Blind (Boston, MA) – our volunteers helped with registration, water distribution and served as sighted guides during the annual Everybody In! Walk/Move Event. 🎨 Arts Access North Carolina (Raleigh, NC) - employees assisted as greeters, gift shop attendees and sighted guides in an art gallery for White Cane Day. ⚾ The Disability Sports Foundation (Temecula, CA) – our volunteers served as pitchers, catchers and sighted guides for players on the field. 📜 The Smithsonian Institution (virtual event) - employees transcribed 185 pages of historical documents which will become part of the Smithsonian Collection.
