After six years, our term as editors of Political Studies Review concludes today. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working on the journal. Our editorial team worked together superbly and I learnt a great deal from the submissions. Perhaps most of all, I learnt how to promote scientific research really effectively through the work of the brilliant Eliza Kania. Thrilled to share that Sara De Benedictis Antonina Tereshchenko Emma Wainwright and I have been awarded the Brunel Research Interdisciplinary Lab (BRIL) award for our project: "International Students: Precarious Geographies of Learning, Work, and Welfare" We ask: What does it mean to be an international postgraduate taught (PGT) master’s student from the majority world in today’s post-1966 UK universities? Our research explores this question by examining four key dimensions: Policy and Media Positioning; Mobilities and Identities; Work, Labour, and Exploitation; and Poverty and Hardship. ♻️ The # UK government will introduce a Deposit Return Scheme (#DRS) across England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland starting on 1 October 2027. This program will require producers to take responsibility for collecting and #recycling single-use beverage bottles. 🎉 Congratulations to Professor Tat-Hean Gan, who has just been announced as a Distinguished Fellow of the IIAV International Institute of Acoustics and Vibration – the IIAV. Prof Gan is a Professor Structural Integrity of Metallic Materials at Brunel, and since 2009 has been Director of the Brunel Innovation Centre (BIC). With the BIC, he has led research and development activities and the commercialisation of sensor applications, signal and image processing, and advanced technologies such as AI and digital twins. The honorary award is the highest rank for individual IIAV members and is restricted to a select few each year.
