Registries are far more than a database of clinical information; they can help save lives. If a patient comes into the ED unconscious, registry information can inform care in real-time while sparing the attending nurse from searching for that information or reaching out to a family member. However, the ongoing shortage of nurses and growing manual abstraction tasks and chart responsibilities make it hard for dedicated healthcare professionals to focus on patient care. “AI and automation can improve the accuracy and efficiency of data collection, allowing hospitals and health systems to spend more time improving processes and patient care. The end result is improved clinical outcomes, and that’s ultimately what healthcare should be all about,” Betsy Castillo, RN, director of clinical data abstraction. At UPMC Enterprises, we’re committed to transforming health care by turning innovative ideas into impactful solutions. Today, we’re proud to celebrate the next chapter for Realyze Intelligence as the company joins Carta Healthcare. This acquisition represents our third successful portfolio exit in 2024 and reflects our mission to drive meaningful progress in health care through strategic partnerships and cutting-edge solutions. 👏 Realyze Intelligence, founded at UPMC Enterprises and spun out in 2020, is redefining #clinicaltrials. Using clinician-trained #AI, Realyze rapidly analyzes EHR data — both structured and unstructured — to match patients to clinical trials in seconds rather than hours. This acquisition follows a series of notable achievements for Realyze in 2024, including its inclusion in the first class of the CancerX Moonshot Startup Accelerator and support of research at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, which was featured in two prestigious medical journals. Now, as part of Carta Healthcare, Realyze is poised to scale its impact even further. Together, these companies will ⤵️ - Accelerate clinical trial recruitment with unmatched efficiency. - Reduce costs and administrative burdens by automating labor-intensive processes. - Expand access to cutting-edge cancer treatments and improve patient outcomes. 💡Realyze’s journey from an idea within UPMC Enterprises to a transformative company in #OncologyResearch is a testament to what’s possible when innovation meets health care expertise. Congratulations to Aaron Brauser (CEO), Gilan El Saadawi, MD, PhD (CMO), and the entire Realyze team on this incredible milestone. https://lnkd.in/e9BufyG5

Nurse burnout is historically correlated with reduced patient safety, satisfaction, and quality of care, according to a recent study. "Despite decades of organizational and national quality improvement efforts, the association between nurse burnout and quality of care has become more negative over the years, implying the urgency of interventions. A small reduction in nurse burnout may have simultaneous effects on many patient outcomes," according to co-author Lambert Li, MPhil, a PhD candidate at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
