We are in Salt Lake County today to celebrate the Federal Transit Administration's award of $62.8 million for Utah Transit Authority's Midvalley Express BRT project! With this grant, UTA will construct a 7-mile Bus Rapid Transit route built by US-workers with US-materials and operate the service with buses made-in-the-USA. The crosstown route features 15-minute service with connections to Salt Lake Community College and the fast-growing regions of West Valley City and Taylorsville. The project's connectivity is highlighted by intermodal transfers to commuter rail and two light rail lines. The BRT line will prepare the Salt Lake City region for the 2034 Winter Olympics by providing a connection to the Maverik Center, a planned venue for the games. Congratulations to UTA and their partner cities for unlocking a new era of transportation in the community. #UtahTransit #WinterOlympics #BRT

Congrats to UTA and the Salt Lake metro area for the continued growth and success of their intermodal transportation network. Have doubts about transit's value to your community? The proof is in the pudding!! https://lnkd.in/evcgsXCE
Happy Belated to Utah Transit Authority’s TRAX light rail system, which celebrated its 25th birthday this week. Launched in 1999 ahead of the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic Games, TRAX transformed UTA into a nationally recognized multimodal transit agency. Since then, UTA’s transit system has continued to grow, now including the FrontRunner commuter rail, 3 TRAX light rail lines (with a fourth in the works), 2 BRT lines (and a third under construction), a robust local bus network, and impressive microtransit, paratransit, and vanpool services. Cheers to 25 years!

Three years ago, President Biden signed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, a generational investment in our nation’s future. Since then, FTA has invested a historic $82 billion in American infrastructure. The federal funding has enabled transit agencies nationwide to replace hundreds of aging railcars, transition over 4,600 diesel buses to green technologies, retrofit dozens of transit stations to be more accessible to people with disabilities, expand bus, rail, streetcar and bus rapid transit systems across the country and more! Thanks to the BIL, FTA continues to fulfill our mission of improving America’s communities through public transportation. #3YearsofBIL

Love this storytelling from DART - Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority. Putting riders in the spotlight to share "why they ride" provides great insight into the community and personalizes transit in a way that data can't always do. DART is steadfastly focused on the customer experience and recent successes such as digital signage and audio schedule updates at stations, undertaking a network redesign, and fare-free rides on election day are emblematic of their rider-focused approach. “$48 a month for a bus pass is very affordable,” Jon said. “Try putting $48 in the gas tank and see how long that lasts you.” https://lnkd.in/eQ3Sm2GN https://lnkd.in/ejDrE-Ss

Developing and implementing a vision for the future of transit is hard. Getting an entire metro area to buy in to that vision is even harder. Transit agencies are faced with competing priorities, timelines, and community interests. MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) CEO Collie Greenwood recently published an op-ed in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution outlining some of the ways that MARTA is investing in the greater Atlanta region. "As the city’s transit needs continue to evolve, it’s clear that the journey toward a more connected and efficient system must be a collaborative effort — one that requires both robust investments from MARTA and active support from local leaders and the communities it serves. MARTA’s recent achievements show a blueprint for collaboration that can be a force multiplier for communities across the Atlanta area." "MARTA is investing nearly $750 million in all new trains, which will come online next year and feature open gangways, state-of-the-art technology and a sleek, modern design chosen by its customers. Recognizing that buses are the backbone of our transit system, we are redesigning the entire bus network to better reflect the changing geography and demographics of metro Atlanta and provide faster, more efficient and equitable bus service." MARTA was recognized for its work earlier this year at the American Public Transportation Association's TRANSform conference with the Outstanding Public Transportation System Award. Opinion: MARTA’s success must be a two-way street

Leadership from Connect Transit and Champaign Urbana Mass Transit District testified in front of the Illinois State Legislature last week to advocate for state assistance that is more responsive to transit agencies' needs. How will states respond to the growing momentum and consumer demand for robust transit service? Hopefully, by matching the federal investment provided by the IIJA. https://lnkd.in/eDgfYGSq
