Our team alongside HED was proud to attend the recent groundbreaking of the Plant and Environmental Sciences Building (PESB) at Michigan State University. The 150,000-sf PESB will house critical science and research focused on plant-environment interfaces, sustainable energy, plant growth mechanisms, photosynthesis, agricultural productivity and regenerative farming. This building will be another chapter in MSU’s storied legacy of plant and environmental science. The institution hosts one of the largest concentrations of plant scientists in the world and maintains prestigious rankings for its work in these fields both nationally and globally.

Congratulations to Yazdani Studio of CannonDesign and their design-build partner HENSEL PHELPS on the opening of the Caltech Resnick Sustainability Center and the Building Team of the Year Award from AIA Los Angeles!
We had the privilege of attending the dedication of the Resnick Sustainability Center at Caltech. This remarkable facility, made possible through the generous support of Lynda and Stewart Resnick from The Wonderful Company, is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of sustainability science and engineering. The day started with a welcome reception, inspiring words from Stewart Resnick, and a tour of our 79,500-square-foot center, designed to be an incubator of innovation in sustainability. The center focuses on sunlight, climate, water, and ecology, embodying Caltech's commitment to addressing the pressing challenges of our time. We are incredibly grateful to the Resnicks and Caltech for engaging us in this transformative project, as this center will empower future scholars to tackle critical issues such as climate change and resource management. We would like to thank our design-build partner, Hensel Phelps, for their great partnership that garnered us a Building Team of the Year award from AIA Los Angeles. 📸 Michael Moran

Whole Child, Every Child is a comprehensive framework we introduced in 2020, developed through research to enhance buildings, spaces and experiences for kids. Created in partnership with healthcare providers, educators, family members, kids and designers, this framework can apply to any space, from healthcare to parks to schools. When we say we design for the "Whole Child, Every Child," this is what we mean:

Today, we take a moment to recognize and honor the brave individuals who have served and those who continue to serve in the military. Their sacrifices and dedication have secured many of the freedoms and values we hold dear, and we appreciate their contributions. We are committed to supporting veterans, both within our firm and in the communities we serve. Each veteran has a unique story, and we value the experiences and perspectives they contribute to our communities. We extend a special thank you to our veteran employees. Your contributions to our firm are deeply appreciated.

Our team was proud to recently attend the topping out ceremony for OU Health's new Behavioral Health Center! The Oklahoma City Public Schools Kids Choir appearance was a highlight of the event. Set to open in late 2026, the new facility will have two dedicated floors to inpatient care, with all rooms equipped to have parents to stay in the room while their child is receiving treatment. There is also a two-story gymnasium with direct access to outdoor space along with multiple outdoor rest and garden areas. The center is also connected to Oklahoma Children's Hospital via a skybridge so it can admit patients with complex medical and mental health conditions. The Knight Cancer Institute at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) was designed with a single purpose: to accelerate discovery and drive breakthroughs in cancer treatment. That's why our SRG + CannonDesign team was thrilled to learn that two of OHSU's Knight Cancer Institute doctors and researchers received the prestigious Biden Cancer Moonshot Scholars award. Supported by the National Institutes of Health, this award advances pioneering cancer research and innovation. Our team is proud to have designed the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute Research Building, which serves as the home base for OHSU’s world-class cancer research. Every detail in its design fosters collaboration, innovation and adaptability — elements essential for scientists to connect, share ideas and quickly respond to new research directions. With open labs, shared workspaces and outdoor amenities, the building creates a supportive environment for both focused study and spontaneous collaboration, making it a critical space for transformative science. Congratulations to OHSU and all the dedicated researchers making remarkable strides in the fight against cancer. It’s inspiring to see the power of Living-Centered Design in supporting life-saving work. https://lnkd.in/gGt2n8_F

👟 With fall race season in full swing and the New York City Marathon this weekend, many runners have logged miles on trails, roads and the track. Many elite and collegiate runners have gotten to experience the unique design of University of Oregon's Hayward Field, a landmark in the track and field community. SRG + CannonDesign's Aaron Pleskac recently joined the ARCAT Detailed podcast to talk about Hayward Field and its use of mass timber, how it pays homage to Nike and how it has become a signature venue for national track and field competitions. 🎧 Listen to the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/g9gxeHE9

Today wraps up our annual Environmental Action month where the firm hosts a multitude of activities and presentations around a focused sustainability topic. This year's theme was 'Design for a Livable Future,' which recognizes we must integrate principles of resilience, adaptability, and social equity into our work and create built environments that enhance well-being and ecological balance. These are just a few parts of EA 2024: 📣 Presentations from external speakers focusing on carbon-free buildings, healthy materials and transforming practices towards sustainability. 🏆 Hosting an internal, firm-wide sustainable actions competition where teams of 6-8 coworkers log points for daily actions they take that better the environment, including taking public transit, composting and more. 🏗️ Holding tradeshows in each of our offices that highlights sustainability efforts of building product and systems manufacturers. Thanks to all our participants and learn more about EA here: https://lnkd.in/gXFWFB-x
