I’m taking new career coaching clients for the fall! 🌈 If you’re LGBTQ+ (or a chill ally) and you’re ready to switch things up with your career, I’d love to meet you. Here’s what I can help with: ► Developing a clear plan of action for pivoting or changing career paths ► Highlighting career growth, accomplishments, and impact in application materials ► Crafting a story that celebrates the experience gained from a nonlinear career ► Identifying LGBTQIA-affirming workplaces through research and savvy questions ► Deciding whether to make changes in an unfulfilling job or search for something new Feel free to send me a connection request or DM with your story. You can also book a free discovery call to explore if there’s a mutual fit. Links to my services are in the comments and at the top of my profile. ✨ #lgbtq #lgbtqia #careercoaching #jobsearchadvice

Creating a more equitable HR. Chief People Officer + Founder.

When we talk about community resources, this is it! Last week I had a few conversations with folks who were looking for hiring boards specifically focused on different historically underrepresented communities. I had some bookmarked that I have used in the past and thought about creating a directory that I could share with folks. But first I asked my network And Alex Lahmeyer DELIVERED! They had already put together a beautiful resource available through Boundless Arc. So now I am sharing it with you all! I hope you will find it as helpful as I do.

Happy Pride Month! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ I have a new (free) resource for job seekers who want to figure out whether an organization is LGBTQ-inclusive: a Reverse Interview Guide. We’ve officially entered the season of corporate rainbow-washing, which can make it hard to tell which employers are actually good places for LGBTQ+ people to work. The good news: if you’re a savvy candidate, you can learn a lot through the interview process. I always say that interviews are a two-way street. An employer may be evaluating you, but you can also evaluate the employer by asking specific questions. To help with this, I’ve created a simple, two-page guide with 15 sample questions covering topics related to LGBTQ+ inclusion. It’s based on a LinkedIn post I wrote last year that I found myself sharing over and over with job seekers. Also, it’s free. Link in the comments, image, and alt text. If this guide isn’t relevant to you, please pass it along to anyone in your world who would benefit. 🌈 Lastly, I’d love to create a few more free resources like this, so let me know what else you’d like to see. It's fun to bring my DEI experience into my coaching practice. #lgbtq #lgbtqia #careercoaching #jobsearchadvice

My take on the future of DEI: it must be built-in, not bolted on. When inclusion and fairness are lacking, ancillary programs alone can’t move the needle. 😬 One-off trainings won’t fix inequitable management styles. 😬 Conference sponsorships won’t fix unstructured hiring. 😬 Mentorship programs won’t fix biased promotions. 😬 Book clubs won’t fix toxic leadership behaviors. You’ll have more luck when you engage in root cause problem-solving, which looks more like: 💪 Digging deeper into your cultural norms, policies, and processes. 💪 Using data to surface and address disparate experiences. 💪 Making structural changes and measuring outcomes. 💪 Being responsive, not reactive. When times are tough, the programs get slashed first. They’re line items in budgets and time-boxed activities in calendars, so they’re easier to delete and move on. If you want to create a workplace that upholds the principles of DEI, you need to build them in. It’ll help you withstand the inevitable headwinds you’ll face in the future. It’s hard work, and it’s worth the investment. #DiversityEquityInclusion #DEI #PeopleStrategy

It’s International Coaching Week, so I thought I’d re-introduce myself. 😊 So hi. Hello. I’m Alex, I use they/them pronouns, and I’m a DEI consultant and a career coach for LGBTQ+ folks. I’m driven by the desire to create access to opportunity for marginalized people, whether it's through my work with organizations or the individuals navigating them. It’s a core part of Boundless Arc's ethos. Over a year ago, I started offering pro bono sessions for LGBTQ+ job seekers. It only took a few conversations for me to realize this is an energizing way to use my skills. I’ve since crystallized my coaching practice, and now I work with folks to help them navigate career changes. If you're working through a transition, I'd love to partner with you to create a strategic plan to make it happen. Here’s what I bring to the table: 🏳️🌈 I understand how hiring works. I’m a former recruiting professional who's reviewed resumes, worked with candidates, and implemented hiring practices at different companies. 🏳️🌈 I know how to chart a course. I have several years of strategic planning experience across my in-house and consulting work. 🏳️🌈 I know how to vet employers and identify red flags. I’m a DEI practitioner who’s seen the inner workings of many workplaces. 🏳️🌈 I offer pragmatic guidance to LGBTQ+ people in different situations. I’ve lived in both safe and unsafe communities and know they require different approaches. 🏳️🌈 I speak from lived experience, not just theory. My career is a nonlinear path filled with ups, downs, and a couple of major pivots. To learn more about my coaching services, check out the link in the comments. It's a good place to learn about my style and read some kind words from the job seekers I’ve worked with. And if you’d like to explore working together, send me a connection request or DM — I’d love to hear your story. #CareerCoaching #JobSearchAdvice #LGBTQ #LGBTQIA

PSA: I’m still offering free quick consults for LGBTQ+ job seekers in 2024 🌈 I recently polled LGBTQ+ job seekers and allies to see where they needed the most help. Nearly half (49%) said "telling the story of my impact” and more than a quarter (28%) said “focusing my job hunt strategy.” This definitely tracks with the 1:1 conversations I had with job seekers last year. If the algorithms brought me to your feed for the first time today, hello. ✨ I’m a queer, non-binary DEI practitioner and former recruiting professional who knows a bit about hiring practices and workplace design. I love working 1:1 with folks in my community. If you could use a thought partner, please grab some time with me using the link at the top of my profile or send me a connection request to chat! #LGBTQ #LGBTQIA #JobSearchAdvice #CareerCoaching #ResumeTips
