#BMHinAction continues! ✨ In October, we had the privilege of attending our Alliance partner's , SisterReach, powerful Faith, Advocacy and Religion Symposium. This enriching event brought together fellowship, dynamic panels, and workshops covering critical topics like politics, religion, HIV, wellness, and more impacting reproductive rights and justice. It was an incredible opportunity to network, learn, and witness impactful work in real-time. We were honored to exhibit BMMA materials as well as get immersed in engaging sessions and connections. This week, we honor the invaluable contributions of Black midwives to maternal and child health. Midwifery care has been a cornerstone of communities for centuries, and it continues to be essential today. As Jamarah Amani of Southern Birth Justice Network aptly stated at #BMHC24, "We don't need to look outside of our communities for solutions; we need folks to get out of our way." Black midwives are a powerful force for positive change in maternal healthcare. Our policy agenda and Issue Brief: Expanding Midwifery Licensure in Georgia advocates for expanding midwifery licensure and access. By implementing these policies, we can ensure that all pregnant people have the opportunity to receive high-quality, culturally relevant care.
