BFF will be taking a well-deserved break for the holiday season, from December 23rd, 2024, to January 1st, 2025. During this time, our offices will be closed, and our staff will be unavailable. We want to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to our supporters, partners, and the Black farming community for their unwavering commitment to our mission. We are incredibly proud of the progress we've made together this year, and we are excited to continue our work in the new year. Although we'll be offline, please note that our website will remain accessible for information and donations. However, responses to inquiries and applications will be delayed until our return on January 2nd, 2025. From all of us at the Black Farmer Fund, we wish you a joyous holiday season and a prosperous New Year!

We know that our communities have the knowledge and ancestral wisdom to be successful, but systematic gaps prove to be barriers to success. Help us close the racial wealth gap and build a more equitable food system. Donate to Black Farmer Fund at https://lnkd.in/es-eKGf3! You can double your impact as gifts are still matched up to $25K until the end of the year. #BFF #BlackFarmerFund #GiveBack #RacialWealthGap #BlackFarmers #Agriculture #BlackFoodBusiness #BlackFood #SystemicBarriers

We recently had the privilege of participating in the Health and Wealth: Fostering Healthy Communities and Economic Self-Determination through Food Systems event in Detroit, MI. Co-hosted by the Sustainable Agriculture & Food Systems Funders (SAFSF) and the Detroit Black Community Food Sovereignty Network (DBCFSN), this event delved into a critical question: How can funding for food access, nutrition, and health equity support community self-determination and ignite equitable food economies? By highlighting the transformative power of community-led food systems, the event fostered engaging discussions on pressing issues like health and wealth disparities in frontline communities, the importance of community-driven solutions, and the crucial role funders play in driving long-term, systemic change. We extend our sincere gratitude to SAFSF and DBCFSN for inviting us to this impactful event. #foodsovereignty #foodjustice #healthequity #systemicchange #Detroit #SAFSF #DBCFSN #foodsystems #sustainableagriculture

Since last year, the BFF team has been immersed in a deep dive into Black agriculture and food systems through our “Getting Grounded” series. These monthly political education sessions have taken us on a journey through history, current events, and future possibilities. From exploring the rich history of Gullah Geechee culture to understanding the role of the Black church in food systems, we’ve been building knowledge and strengthening our commitment to food justice. Today, we're highlighting the fascinating world of Black folk herbalism. We'll delve into the history of this practice, exploring the lives of influential figures like Emma Dupree and Madame C.J. Walker. Join us as we uncover the power of plants and the wisdom of our ancestors. #BlackFarmerFund #GettingGrounded #BlackFolkHerbalism #FoodJustice
