It's a wrap! 🦊 🌏 🌟 We're proud to announce the publication of the final paper in the special collection of RIO Journal on the BioDT project! 📑 This collection of 11 papers offers an overview of the project's ten prototype Biodiversity Digital Twins (pDTs), each designed to model and predict biodiversity patterns and processes across diverse ecosystems. By integrating diverse data sources with advanced modelling techniques, these pDTs provide a more comprehensive understanding of #biodiversity dynamics. This knowledge empowers informed decision-making in conservation strategies, land management practices, and policy development. Furthermore, the project promotes interoperability and FAIR data principles, fostering collaboration and enabling future advancements in biodiversity conservation. To learn more about the BioDT project and its potential impact, we invite you to explore the full paper: https://lnkd.in/d_xivknA

🌾 Invasive alien species (IAS) pose a significant global threat to #biodiversity, ecosystems, human well-being, and economies. Their impact is expected to intensify with #climatechange and land-use alterations. Current static modelling approaches for #IAS create a problematic lag between projections and policy actions. 🎯 To address this, researchers from BioDT have developed a prototype #DigitalTwin for tracking invasive alien plant species across Europe. This innovative tool predicts the location and extent of potential invasions under current and future climate scenarios. Operating at the habitat level, it provides dynamic projections that update automatically with new data. 👉 The system follows #FAIR principles, making its data findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable. An interactive dashboard offers free access to all input and output data for researchers and policymakers. Dive into the full article to explore this new way of managing invasive species: https://lnkd.in/eGZky3j6
