Meet Berklee Online alum Colin Bell, who recently scored his second feature film, “Christmas Cowboy,” released this holiday season. Colin produced live orchestral music on a limited budget and had only four weeks to compose and produce the score. Berklee alumni Jameson Hegger and Nathaniel Harder were part of the mix team, with Colin recommending them after studying together in the Master of Music in Film Scoring program. In addition to his work in film scoring, Colin teaches a multi-level music production course at Old Bridge High School in Old Bridge, New Jersey. He built a state-of-the-art studio and developed a curriculum designed to prepare students for the modern music industry. Colin credits his experience at Berklee Online as a key influence in shaping the course. “My favorite thing about Berklee Online is the instructors. They are industry professionals who provide practical vocational training. The curriculum they create is top-notch, delivered on a fantastic educational platform. They genuinely care about your career progress and offer as much support as possible. I took full advantage of office-hour Zoom sessions to learn as much as possible. Some professors were instrumental in helping me navigate my first feature film while I was still a student.”
