  • Second part of Beholder expert’s interview: Which aspects of traditional geology remain irreplaceable despite the advent of AI? Traditional geological methods, such as field studies, remain essential in exploration. Direct observation of rocks and sample collection provide critical information that cannot be obtained through automated methods. Geologists’ experience and understanding of geological processes, particularly in challenging or little-known areas, are key to accurately interpreting AI results. How does AI help in predicting deep anomalies or rare resources? AI can analyze vast amounts of data and historical samples, enabling it to predict the likelihood of rare resources in hard-to-reach or poorly studied regions. In particular, AI can draw analogies between known and new regions, improving prediction accuracy for these resources. How does AI help reduce environmental impact compared to traditional methods? AI optimizes the drilling process, reducing the number of wells needed and the area of disturbed land. Using environmental models, it also allows for consideration of environmental impact during the planning stage of exploration, helping to reduce pollution risks and improve resource efficiency. What is the most exciting potential for AI in the future of mineral exploration? AI offers the potential for more precise delineation of ore bodies, accurate resource estimation, drilling planning, and overall resource optimization. It also helps reduce environmental risks and the scale of work affecting the environment, making exploration more efficient and sustainable. Conclusion AI is becoming an integral part of modern mineral exploration, working alongside traditional geology. It increases prediction accuracy, reduces environmental impact, and accelerates resource discovery. However, the role of geologists remains crucial in ensuring accurate interpretation and final decision-making.

  • 5 Practical benefits of satellite data for geologists: efficiency and precision without limits Satellite data has revolutionized geology, unlocking possibilities that once seemed unattainable. Here are five key advantages that satellite technologies provide to modern geologists: 1. Risk Reduction Satellite imagery enables a detailed analysis of terrain before any fieldwork begins. This minimizes the risks of investing in unpromising areas and helps focus resources on the most critical sites. 2. Detection of Subtle Anomalies Data from satellites like Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 can identify subtle geophysical and geological anomalies, which may indicate the presence of mineral deposits. This is particularly valuable in areas where traditional methods yield inconclusive results. 3. Assessment of Remote Areas Satellites provide access to data from hard-to-reach or geographically isolated regions. This makes it possible to evaluate the potential of even the most remote areas without the need for costly and time-intensive expeditions. 4. Cost and Time Savings With satellite data, geologists can create preliminary resource potential maps much faster than with traditional field methods. This reduces exploration costs by 5-10 times and enables faster decision-making. 5. Environmental Responsibility Satellite analysis avoids extensive physical disruptions to nature, minimizing environmental impact. This promotes a more sustainable approach to resource exploration. Satellite data is opening new horizons for geologists, delivering precision, efficiency, and innovation in exploring Earth’s subsurface. Beholder’s tools help you maximize this potential to achieve your goals. Want to learn more about the possibilities of satellite analysis? Contact us today!
