What a nice little feature on Luisa Obando and Della Casa Pasta in the Houston Business Journal! She is a wonderful example of an entrepreneur who has used the small funding boosts from Kiva and Bayou Microfund to grow her business very well. Prasad Menon and our team are very proud of her. She and her new retail space in Tomball are a joy to behold! https://lnkd.in/gWqYAbrC #bayoumicrofund #kivahouston #characterbasedlending #impactinvesting #microloans #smallbusiness #dellacasapasta

About us
Our mission is to incubate micro-entrepreneurs in the Greater Houston area by providing interest-free loans and mentoring. We have been a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation and a Kiva Trustee since 2014. In 2021, with support from Kiva and the Michael and Susan Dell Family Foundation, we became the caretaker of Kiva's Houston Hub. From application, to fundraising, to repayment, to technical assistance, we are here to support local entrepreneurs through their Kiva Journey. We provide interest-free loans and support by mentoring in different areas to our entrepreneurs to help them achieve their goals. Our loans are funded in two different ways: through direct loans with our Partner Banks and through our Kiva Houston Hub. We love to hear from others who are passionate about microlending and who wish to make a difference by giving back. Join us as we seek to create a virtuous circle of giving that enlivens a vibrant micro-lending community in Texas.

We are so proud of Bayou Microfund Board Member Lauren Caldarera, Textile Entrepreneur Norma Delgado and ALL of the other amazing Sewists from our community partner My Connect Community-Sharpstown/Gulfton's initiative HTX Sewn Goods!! Check out this awesome little clip from Junk to Jewels detailing the work they are doing with Scenery Bags and Jen Kahn to keep Broadway set pieces and costumes out of the landfill. It is our pleasure to help HTX with their small business education programming and with their micro retail spaces called Shops@Connect High Star in their new facility which will open in 2025.
There’s incredible power in collaboration when a great brand chooses to invest in local, small-batch production. Jennifer Kahn sought out local partners, such as My Connect Community-Sharpstown/Gulfton's HTX Sewn Goods to gain more oversight in the production process and support Houston’s vibrant maker economy. A big thank you to Jen and sune! Together, we’re building a stronger, more resilient local economy. #Houston #localproduction #smallbusiness #innovation #sewing #entrepreneurship https://lnkd.in/gxm28vHb
