Baselayer reposted this
Last month I had the pleasure of hosting a panel on fraud-fighting for our annual Gilgamesh Ventures Summit. The session featured three industry leaders: Adi G., COO and Co-Founder of Sardine; Jonathan Awad, CEO and Co-Founder of Baselayer; and Nick Peddy, CTO of CLEAR. The discussion focused on the cutting-edge use cases of AI in fraud detection and prevention, emphasizing the importance of analyzing user behavior, device interactions, and leveraging network effects through data sharing. We also explored the challenges presented by sophisticated fraud rings, the evolving regulatory landscape, and the potential impact of AI advancements on security measures like CAPTCHA. At Gilgamesh Ventures, we have been proud investors in Jonathan and Timothy's vision of Baselayer since day one, and this was a great opportunity for the audience to learn from Jonathan how the company is revolutionizing trust-building with clients through AI-driven automation of data collection and analysis. At Baselayer they have built network-based and events-based architecture that collects and analyzes data from all applications to construct a comprehensive view of fraud. This holistic approach is the key to tackling sophisticated fraud rings, particularly those exploiting fair lending practices. Jonathan also introduced Baselayer's straightforward yet powerful strategy: directly asking lenders to share their lists of fraudulent entities. This simple and collaborative idea can result in blocking these entities from the entire network, effectively amplifying fraud prevention by singling out bad actors. Baselayer is an innovative rocketship that has already partnered with some of the biggest names in the industry, including LoanPro, Taktile, Alloy, Rho, Torpago, Slope, Capchase, and 100s more. Its use of AI and commitment to cultivating industry-wide collaboration have quickly positioned the company at the forefront of safeguarding our financial ecosystem. I’m glad the audience got to hear from Jonathan's insights and it was no surprise we had a packed room with 100+ founders and investors eager to learn from them.
