BB Energy Asia Secures Digital Borrowing Base Facility BB Energy Asia, a wholly-owned subsidiary of BB Energy Group Holding Ltd has successfully closed an over-subscribed, USD 340 million Secured Digital Borrowing Base Facility, to support the working capital needs of its Asian trading business. Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) acted as the Facility and Security agent. The facility, largely oversubscribed and well supported in the market, has attracted commitments from new Asian lenders, and represents an increase on the USD 235 million last year, reflecting BB Energy Asia’s strong appeal to international investors. For the second year running, the facility is underpinned by a cutting-edge digital trade platform through our partnership with Komgo and SGTraDex, reflecting BB Energy Group’s commitment to transparency and operational integrity. Embracing digitisation has delivered tangible benefits over the past year, including better data integrity, higher efficiency and increased transparency. BB Energy was delighted to be a strategic sponsor of the 13th Arab-Hellenic Economic Forum. 185 Arab and 137 Greek participants gathered at the Athenaeum Intercontinental Hotel in Athens to discuss the challenges and opportunities for closer Arab-Greek business relations.   One of the highlights was a fireside chat between Raed Bassatne, Business Coordinator Manager, B.B. Energy and Rashad Mabger, Secretary General of the Arab - Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Development. The friendly chat presented BB Energy to the audience, including a brief history of the Group, our beginnings and our future aspirations.   The two-day event included two days of intensive discussions and thoughtful deliberations on energy, construction, and featured sessions on traditional and renewable energy, highlighting cooperation between the Greek and Arab business communities.

  • Today, BB Energy company, SP delivered a first truck of LPG to Mountain Ceramic Company (“MCC”) in Rwanda. MCC is a tile manufacturing factory with a planned total production capacity of 5,000m² of tiles per day making it unique in the country.   This first delivery is part of a first batch of tests being run at the factory and precedes commissioning of the plant which is planned to happen early in 2025. When fully operational, the plant is set to consume around 21.5 tons of LPG per day making it the largest consumer of LPG in the country.   This partnership between MCC and SP is truly unique as MCC will not only contribute to reducing Rwanda's reliance on importation of tiles but will also run on cleaner energy.

🛵 Rwanda to stop registering petrol powered motorcycles 🛵 The Government of Rwanda announced yesterday that it will stop registering petrol powered motorcycles for public transport in the city of Kigali from January 2025. The move will support the country’s shift to sustainable transport as only electric vehicles will be considered for commercial public transport. Rwanda already has a thriving e-motorbike market and has a mature e-mobility infrastructure that will support the transition. Last week BB Energy’s Head of Renewables, Chahid Jarmouni, told the FT Africa Summit how BB Energy company, Société Pétrolière, uses its downstream retail network in Rwanda to provide battery swapping services for motorbikes in partnership with e-mobility company Ampersand Energy. This highlights the important and continuing role that downstream energy networks will play in the energy transition. #FTAfrica #electricvehicles #rwanda #energytransition

At this week’s FT Africa Summit in London BB Energy’s Head of Renewables, Chahid Jarmouni, spoke on the panel: Africa’s Future Energy Mix - what do you prioritise?   During the discussion, Chahid emphasised that, while for many African countries the priority is getting access to energy at the lowest cost, it is now the case that solar is often the lowest cost option and also an option that can be deployed quickly.   One of the big policy successes on the continent has been the creation of the Southern African Power Pool which is promoting the development of merchant solar power plants which can sell power onto the grid across the regional power pool. This includes two merchant solar PV plants being developed by BB Energy subsidiary Solarcentury Africa.   #FTAfrica #justenergytransition #solar
