Holding cash feels good when money market and bank accounts are paying 5%, but inflation is something we should all be mindful of. I read an article in Barron's this weekend that reinforced my gut skepticism of government inflation indices. They seem to with consistency to underestimate inflation. This is likely for many reasons including hedonic adjustments and conflicts of interest. From Barron's: “I don’t predict wars, I don’t predict Bitcoin, I don’t predict currency prices, I don’t predict whose going to become president,” said Baron on Friday. “The only thing I predict is inflation…everything doubles in price about every 14 or 15 years.” One conclusion from Baron’s inflation reality?
