I've been trying Axiom for a few months and honestly I'm impressed 🎉 I've been using Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloudwatch logs, queries, alarms and X-ray for years and with every new project I've spent countless hours setting things up and even more trying to locate the right logs. While CloudWatch offers powerful features, it comes with a steep learning curve and an often frustrating user experience. Axiom on the other hand ... well it just makes sense and it just works. from filtering logs to writing queries. It's all in one place, you can either write a query or use a visual builder. with AWS CloudWatch you have to navigate between multiple screens, wait for slow load times, and wrestle with the interface. it feels inefficient. By the time I find what I’m looking for, I’m already fatigued. 😩 and don't get me started on navigating between unreadable log stream groups... in axiom, all your streams are in one place, it's interactive and you can tail it by just clicking on it ! on the other hand live tailing in CW is costly and very limited ... When using Cloudwatch I usually set the retention period to 7 or 30 days depending on how much are we willing to spend on logging and monitoring because storing logs can get expensive really fast. Speaking of expensive logs. if my team makes a mistake and forgets a loose log statement somewhere in a busy service, in a matter of few days our bill will jump by hundreds of dollars (last incident was thanks the AWS S3 SDK logging) So the service is prohibitively expensive and has terrible UX for software engineers. in comparison Axiom just works for my use cases and their pricing is predictable. Axiom is not perfect by any means and it has some quirky issues here and there but it's incredibly reliable and the UX for finding things and creating dashboards, monitors, notifications, etc is really easy. If you’re tired of fighting with CloudWatch and looking for a refreshing alternative, I highly recommend giving Axiom a try. 🚀 they also have a kickass playground that you play with https://lnkd.in/gbcxagKk
