As another busy week comes to close, I reflect on the most satisfying part of the long days - interacting with the students at Indian School of Hospitality 💯 Grateful to Arun Prakash Ray sir for the opportunity to teach “Business Finance” : reiterating traditional financial statements and comparing to startup metrics + funding mechanisms 🙌 Reminded of how challenging it is to engage a classroom for 3hrs every day, renewed respect for all my teachers / lecturers / professors. Shout out to Naveen Jain for introducing personal finance to the PG students who are on the path to building a strong financial foundation (I would have made double the money from my investments had someone guided me!) 😇 Special mention to my sister Priya Obhrai who not only taught me accounting back in school, but helped me through college and B-school! To finally, helping me with content for the course 🙏 I have taken multiple sessions / guest lectures but this is the first full-credit course! 🙇♂️

Proud to have represented Bharatsure and be a winner at the India Fintech Olympiad for professionals! We won the nationals among some of the brightest minds in Fintech, winning some cool prize money along the way. Adding to our party fund! Held at the India FinTech Forum summit, we were also finalists at the fintech of the year and narrowly missed out on the big prize.

Our team member, Naveen Jain donned a different hat as he took a 'Personal Finance' session at the Indian School of Hospitality today. Focussing on multiple key topics: the role of knowledge vs behaviour in financial decisions, prioritizing savings with multiple income sources and expenses, distinguishing between human and financial capital, power of compounding etc. The session took the students on a journey to assess their investment strategies and allocating funds across various asset classes basis their varied risk appetite and investment charters.

Visiting Bharat truly inspires me—perhaps because, at heart, I’m still a small-town girl. This time, it was the town of Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh—a place I’d love to call "our very own Bentonville"—home to Blume Ventures portfolio company, SuperK. SuperK is a tech-enabled, membership-based Kirana store in #AndraPradesh. My visit was planned so I could be part of their 5th anniversary celebrations. It was a day brimming with joy and pride, where everyone—from store partners to the tech team to the warehouse packing staff and pickers—came together to celebrate. There were awards, dance performances, and smiling faces everywhere. The audience clapped with glee, with many attendees bringing along their parents, kids, and spouses—a true celebration of community and belonging. As Anil Thontepu pointed out, this spirit of bringing the team together is inspired by Jack Ma and Alibaba Group’s annual gatherings. The stories I heard were equally inspiring: A warehouse picker who boarded the SuperK bus, beaming with pride as her family waved to her... A young man, once considered a village brat, who transformed into a local hero after being promoted to supervisor... SuperK is doing far more than just building a business—they’re creating jobs in Tier 3 and Tier 4 India, employing over 40% women, and offering safe, clean workplaces. The warehouse, located near the Central Warehousing Corporation facility, was simply mind-blowing—world-class infrastructure that stands as a testament to India’s progress. Anirudh Iyer, Aditya (xseed) and I were thoroughly impressed by the sophistication of their operations. From the outside, their stores might look like regular grocery shops, but the magic lies in how tech-enabled and data-driven they are. And as we all know, data has the power to create wonders. On the drive back, Neeraj Menta, Anil Thontepu and I couldn’t stop discussing the vision and immense potential of SuperK. Their dreams are big, reminding me of the famous quote, “miles to go before I sleep.” Every now and then, they’d point out locations with excitement, saying, “We’ll have a store here in Rayachoty, in Gurramkonda, in Madanapalle…” I feel humbled, inspired, and incredibly proud to be part of this dynamic duos journey - they truly are leveraging the power of technology to transform Bharat... Ofcourse - missed - Karthik B. Reddy, Vikram Gawande and Dhagash Shah... And yes, to experience the magic of SuperK, you must make the trek to Kadapa..

Congratulations to Umang Kumar (ISB Co06) Cofounder of CarDekho Group and Cofounder, CarDekho SEA for raising $60 million from Navis Capital Partners and Dragon Fund. The fundraise valued the company between $300-400 Mn. The financing platform will largely use the newly raised capital to build out its existing business in Indonesia and Philippines and to gradually expand into new geographies. CarDekho SEA is the Southeast Asia unit and a subsidiary of CarDekho Group.
