In 1924 Albert Einstein predicted a new state of matter, the Bose-Einstein Condensate (BEC) on the basis of quantum formulations by the Indian physicist Satyendra Nath Bose. Ever since, physicists tried to achieve this new fundamental state of matter. Seventy years passed before it finally happened on 5 June 1995. Eric Cornell and Carl Wieman at the University of Colorado Boulder NIST-JILA lab proved the phenomenon when they produced the first gaseous condensate in a rarefied gas of rubidium atoms at an extremely low temperature. They received the Nobel Prize in 2001. The graphic shows three-dimensional successive snap shots in time in which the atoms condensed from less dense red, yellow and green areas into very dense blue to white areas.

California's State of Emergency proclamation is an important recognition of the need to respond definitively to the growing threat posed by H5N1. Proactive testing and sequencing just makes sense – heartland security is an issue that has consequences for all of us, and everyone should support proactive measures against threats like this. All of us across America depend on our farmers and food infrastructure every day, and they should be able to depend on us. State and national governments can provide critical support, empowering America's biosecurity industrial base to snap in safeguards that keep us all informed. Our response needs to get smarter: testing alone will mean we are catching up to the spread of the disease. Deploying genomic surveillance, the sequencing of milk samples (especially those that test positive) will allow us to detect emerging variants, develop comprehensive testing panels, and keep on pace with the biology at play here. Thankfully, the same infrastructure we built to support our COVID response can be deployed against bird flu. We stand ready, alongside our partners, including labs that test roughly half of the US milk supply, to support these biosecurity efforts.

The National Atomic Company of Kazakhstan has established a full-cycle beryllium production. Kazatomprom, the world's largest producer of natural uranium, with access to the largest resource base, has established a full-cycle beryllium production. At the Ulba Metallurgical Plant (UMP), a subsidiary of Kazatomprom, a full-cycle beryllium production has been established from processing ore concentrate to the release of finished products. At UMP, technical beryllium is produced in the form of ingots weighing up to 35 kilograms, - the press service of the holding company said in a statement.
