I’m truly honored to have received the Wendy Gates Corbett - Spirit of the Chapter Award last night at our ATD - Research Triangle Area Chapter annual member celebration! This award recognizes a member who demonstrates the spirit of giving, service, and helping others within the chapter. Over the past year, I’ve pushed myself to step outside my comfort zone, learn all I can, and contribute in ways that align with who I am—someone who strives to be dependable, reliable, and consistent. This recognition feels especially meaningful as I continue my journey to transition into the Learning and Development field. As a graduate student studying Training and Development, I’ve been intentional about immersing myself in opportunities to grow and connect with like-minded professionals. The ATD community has been a vital part of that growth, offering both inspiration and support every step of the way. I’m so grateful for the members who have welcomed me, challenged me, and encouraged me to keep learning and giving back. This award serves as a reminder of what’s possible when we show up, serve others, and remain open to growth. I look forward to what the future holds as I continue this path! Here’s to continued learning, service, and connection! #Gratitude #Careertransition #LearningAndDevelopment #Growthmindset

Yesterday I attended the excellent ATD Carolina Regional Conference . I met some fellow Applied Instructional Design Academy alumni and spent time with fellow members of ATD - Research Triangle Area Chapter . It was a great day of learning and community! 💡I learned from Nicole Greer how to make training more holistic to build a vibrant learning culture. 💡I learned from Joe Perez ("Dr. Joe") how to balance teaching, coaching, and mentoring to improve staff development and retention. 💡I learned from Luke Goetting how to connect with Gen Z in the workplace. (Short answer: purpose and videos.) 💡I learned from Josh Cavalier how to more effectively work with a Large Language Model when designing learning experiences. (I will be extra nice to the robots.) 💡Megan R. Bell, MPM, PMP reinforced what I learned through the job search process: be your authentic self! Thank you so much to all the volunteers and speakers.

Had a blast sharing "The Gen Z Effect" at the ATD Carolina Regional Conference to a sellout crowd! 🎯 It was an honor to speak in front of so many accomplished training professionals who recognize both my content *and* style / format - because when it comes to engaging Gen Z, it's not just about the content, it's about the experience! 👏 Key highlights from my session: ▶️ Why traditional L&D approaches need a refresh for Gen Z ▶️ How to create "Experiential Approved" learning experiences ▶️ Strategies for making training stick in the TikTok era Huge shoutout to the ATD - Research Triangle Area Chapter, ATD Charlotte Area, ATD Piedmont Chapter for coming together to create this incredible event. When nearly 300 L&D professionals gather to discuss the future of learning, magic happens! ✨ Sometimes the most innovative ideas come from regional collaboration. To all the L&D professionals who engaged in our discussion: Your commitment to evolving your training approaches for the next generation is inspiring! What's your biggest challenge in engaging Gen Z learners? Let's continue the conversation below! 👇 #CarolinaRegionalConference #LearningAndDevelopment #GenZLearning #FutureOfTraining #ATDLearn

Who else loves learning? 🙋♀️ Growing up, my dad always said if I could get paid to learn, I’d have the perfect job. Now, as I transition into more of Learning & Development capacity, I’m thrilled to say I’ve found my “home” in this field! Attending my first ATD Carolina Regional Conference last week was everything I hoped for and more. From inspiring keynotes to energizing conversations, the event truly reinforced my passion for developing talent. Here are my top takeaways from the sessions I attended: ⭐ Shifting Our Perspective on Learning: Nicole Greer, Principal Coach & CEO of Build a Vibrant Future, provided a motivational morning keynote focusing on four essential points to shift our perspective on learning: * Pivot to focus on the learner, not just the trainer (and reflect this in surveys!) * Embrace training as truly holistic * Make learning essential, not just a mandatory checkbox * Cultivate time and pathways for people to grow! Her emphasis on prioritizing growth was a great reminder that learning is a necessity, not an option! Plus, she shared several book recommendations for continued learning 📚 📈 Measure What Matters: Laura Paramoure, CEO of eParamus, led a powerful session on measuring ROI for instructional design, echoing discussions from my Western Carolina University MSHR program. Her data-driven approach reinforced the need to track skill application and organizational impact—not just attendance numbers. 🤖 AI in L&D: Renée C., CEO, C.S.T.C.O Consulting, introduced us to AI's potential in transforming L&D, especially in call centers. She even brought in the creator of an AI-driven customer service and talent development tool for a live Q&A. Real-time feedback for trainees was impressive—I’ll be following this innovation closely! 🌍 Leadership Development Insights: Glenna M. Griffin, PhD, Head of Enterprise Learning & Development at Biogen, led an incredibly insightful session on leadership development programs. She highlighted key factors (and research) for not just simply improving retention, but increasing intent to stay by: * Building a strong employee experience * Fostering an engaged workforce * Creating a positive “employee ecosystem” She reminded us that involving upper-level leadership in these programs is critical for lasting engagement and change—insights I’ll carry forward. 💼 Embracing Multi-Hyphenate Skills Megan R. Bell, MPM, PMP wrapped up the conference with an engaging session on embracing multi-hyphenate skills to build a personal brand. She shared practical tips on how to integrate this into our LinkedIn profiles, reminding us that our brand is a valuable asset. I left the conference energized, inspired, and ready to put new insights into action. Huge thanks to ATD for a warm welcome and an amazing learning experience! Here’s to new connections and continued growth with the ATD - Research Triangle Area Chapter! 🎉

Last week, a few members of the #LearningandDevelopment team at HonorBridge attended the ATD Carolina Regional Conference in Concord, NC. Huge shoutout to ATD Charlotte Area and ATD - Research Triangle Area Chapter for creating this space for us to learn, connect, and, yes, even have fun! 🔍Nicole Greer kicked us off with a reminder about shifting our perspective from the trainer to the trainee. 📊 Laura Paramoure provided practical tools to translate learning into measurable business impact… Because who doesn't love showing the value of what we do? 🌱Glenna M. Griffin, PhD challenged us to think differently about leadership development programs - are they really driving intent to stay? 🦄 Megan R. Bell, MPM, PMP closed out the day by encouraging us to embrace our “multi-hyphenate” skills. I was so appreciative for the opportunity to spend the day networking and learning with my team, and I also had the pleasure of bumping into Tonya McMillan, M.Ed., SHRM-CP, APTD & Megan Hogan, MPH too 🤗 #Networking #ProfessionalDevelopment #TalentStrategy #ContinuousLearning #ATD
