IMECE 2024 took Portland, OR, by storm! For five days, attendees from around the world had the opportunity to network and showcase their research, attend keynotes from industry leaders, meet up with friends old and new, and explore an exciting city. Early-career researchers were celebrated at the ASME Rising Stars showcase, while industry veterans received awards and delivered keynotes. Dedicated engineers showcased research, and global students glimpsed their future careers. A Women in Engineering Panel featured six trailblazers sharing how ASME shaped their professional journeys. Be sure to mark your calendar to join us at #IMECE2025 in Memphis, TN next November: https://lnkd.in/eNukee9 Did you present your research at #IMECE2024? Take the next step and submit your research to an ASME journal, where IMECE papers may be eligible for priority publication: https://lnkd.in/dc6PyZyf Photos: Andrea Lonas Photography

Have you ever seen the complexities of a helicopter swashplate up close? The helicopter's swashplate transfers the pilot's commands from the flight controls to the rotating rotor blades. Did you know that the first practical U.S. helicopter, the Sikorsky VS-300, is an #ASMELandmark and can be seen at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI? https://lnkd.in/ecp-x3nz Credit: Reddit/Toolgifs; Imgur/aloofloofah

What do we want ASME to look like and how will we get there? Hear from ASME Governor Kathryn Jablokow. #ASMEforEveryone
Even the greatest changes all have one thing in common - they begin with a first step. ASME (The American Society of Mechanical Engineers) Governor Kathryn Jablokow offers her thoughts on how the groundbreaking gender parity we are currently experiencing on the board can serve as a catalyst for shaping what the future will bring, as we continue to help develop role models to represent diverse perspectives. ASME - inspiring women to engineer a brighter and more inclusive future. #asmeforeveryone #engineering #mechanicalengineering

Inventor Chuck Hull may have envisioned that 3D printing would be embraced by manufacturing, but he could not have imagined what “customers” would do with the technology! Hull, co-founder and chief technology officer of 3D Systems Corporation, and inventor of stereolithography (SLA), described the innovative technology as a godsend that took the tedious tooling process and offered a way to produce a prototype quickly. The SLA-1 machine includes a container filled with photopolymer, a UV light source, scanning mirrors, a movable elevator platform, and a computer to design the 3D object and translate the design into commands. Recognized as an #ASMELandmark in 2016, the SLA-1 symbolizes how additive manufacturing reshaped industries by enabling complex, efficient designs and reducing material waste. Check out the third photo to see the first 3D-printed part produced by the SLA-1 machine! Learn about Hull's journey: https://lnkd.in/ezD-rang
