Great to see this article here by one of Sweden's leading tabloid news paper, #expressen about Swedish author, #larswilderäng. His popularity and interest for his books as well as the incredible work he is doing as a civilian in Ukraine, while using his platform to focus on the ongoing #ukrainewar which has been going for 256 days. Arvet Agency recognised and saw the enormous potential of #Larswilderäng books and the genres that he writes in as the trans media assets they can be developed into. We acquired the options for his body of work for film, tv and gaming development and production. One of the books Lars Wilderäng has written is a set of two called #midvintermörker and #midsommargyrning The plot in these books is uncanny to the real-life act of aggression by Russia on Ukraine, only that Lars Wilderäng was writing about Sweden. Arvet Agency has pledged to donate profits to the rebuilding of #ukraine based on the first development deal we make for #midsommargyrning and #midvintermörker #film #work #development #writing #media #gaming #intellectualpropertyrights #larswilderäng #swedishfilm #kultur #svensknäringsliv #ukrainewar #transmedia #gaming #tvseries #whocontrolsyournarrative https://lnkd.in/dV8z8Dr9

Arvet Agency together with Cinecct Sweden and Dancing Road Productions are releasing the Australian creature feature - "Carnifex" out in cinemas in Sweden on January 26th. One of the driving passions for all three of us as entrepreneurs in the screen industries - is the cinema audience and that we are passionate about engaging with them. We believe that the cinema holds a very important place of community, rituals and human experience together. A global streaming platform cannot beat that. The promise by global streamers in the Nordics that they would back new pioneering film makers that were going to crush the "establishment" and legacy nepotism in the screen industries, is yet to be seen in my opinion. Commissioning editors, like old world distributors and old world producers, old world casting directors and old world sales agents, want the same tried and tested faces, because it seems no one is willing to take risks or dare I say it, actually work for the audience or back the future storytellers. I extend the same sentiments towards Swedish public service television. The global streamers have gutted and cannibalised the distribution pipeline to the exhibitors in the Nordics. Our complacency has allowed it. When Dancing Road Productions who took a lot of risk getting this film made in the middle of a covid lock-down in Australia and after the bush fires that scorched a large part of South Australia, brought "Carnifex" to Arvet in Cannes in 2023, they asked us to believe in their film by an unknown film director and not quite a universally well known cast. We said yes. When we took "Carnifex" to Cinecct, a new distributor in the Nordic market, nestled deep in the Swedish pine forests, they said yes. Arvet Agency, Dancing Road Productions and Cinecct backed it 100%. This is why - we all saw and recognised that the horror genre is a strong genre for a cinema audience, the marketing is the key to engage fully on social media platforms such as TIK TOK where we are over 100k views and counting. We are focussed on audience engagement from the very start and not the tail end. We find that "moment", find the story within the story, the song and brand it. Check out our post on Instagram - Never Tear us Apart. It means working for the audience and wooing them, inviting them to come see the show and promising thrills. We believe in pioneering new voices and mean it. We didn't know Carnifex director, Sean Lahiff, from a bar of soap but he has made an excellent creature feature horror while meeting the producers intent. Sean Lahiff made this for us in Sweden. It is a love letter to the Swedish audience. Those of you who loved Blair Witch, will smile. Those of you who appreciate spinning the urban legend tale, will smile and those of you who recognise how we have used climate change and bio-diversity narrative in marketing a horror "Carnifex" will think we are brilliant. Cinema exhibitors, will smile too. Lets make cinema great again.
