Already a while ago, we reviewed a muscle group that is located deep in the suboccipital region of the neck and is known as the suboccipital muscles. Now, it's time to explore their functions.💡 As shown in our video, the rectus capitis posterior major, rectus capitis posterior minor, and obliquus capitis superior are active during head extension. Additionally, you can observe how the obliquus capitis inferior and rectus capitis posterior major contribute to rotation, while the obliquus capitis superior aids in lateral flexion. ❗Please note that these muscles work in collaboration with larger muscle groups to facilitate the movements shown in our video. Primarily, the suboccipital muscles offer essential postural support to the head❗ Learn human anatomy fast! We make anatomy simple by developing high-quality teaching and learning tools
About us
At Anatomy.app, we make anatomy simple. With this goal in mind, we diligently develop and release high-quality educational tools that empower professors and enable individual learning anywhere, anytime. We put the needs of students and professors at the forefront. The educational tools we create are precise, reliable, and easy to use. Above all – they are designed to convey the rich complexity of anatomy in a simple, intuitive manner. Anatomy.app stands as a web-based educational application, offering users a realistic 3D exploration of various systems and structures. Representing a cutting-edge teaching and learning tool, it boasts an extensive library of interactive 3D human anatomy models meticulously crafted from precise radiological data. The platform delivers comprehensive content, including interactive 3D anatomy articles, a media library, a free online medical library, a medical blog, and various quizzes. While initially tailored for medical students and healthcare professionals, its clear information, detailed graphics, and targeted assessments make it accessible to anyone intrigued by a profound exploration of the human body. For educators, the platform provides teaching and learning tools that align with the technological preferences of today's students. Established in 2015, we began our journey in the art world under the brand Anatomy For Sculptors. Our Anatomy for Sculptors book series (Understanding the Human Figure, Anatomy of Facial Expression, and Form of the Head and Neck) quickly became popular, and now they are bestsellers among artists and medical professionals. Soon after the successful release of our first book, we entered the medical education field. Over time, we introduced various products for medical students and educators. Whether in the form of digital software or printed books, our products mirror our passion for information design. Fundamental to us is the clarity of presentation while maintaining the depth of information.

The subscapularis is the largest and most powerful rotator cuff muscle. It lies on the anterior aspect of the scapula, filling the subscapular fossa. Like the infraspinatus, it also appears triangular-shaped.💡 🔸It originates from the medial two-thirds of the subscapular fossa of the scapula. 🔸The subscapularis inserts into the lesser tubercle of the humerus. 🔸It stabilizes the shoulder joint and provides internal (medial) rotation of the arm. This time, we shift our focus to nutation and counternutation.💡 Nutation and counternutation are movements that occur in the sacroiliac joint (SIJ), which is a paired joint formed between the sacrum and the ilium. It serves as a crucial connection point - it is a site where the upper body meets the lower body. These joints also function as the transition between the spine and the pelvis. Therefore, the sacroiliac joints play a central role in shock absorption. Nutation and counternutation are important in the context of posture, walking, and childbirth, and they involve the sacrum, coccyx, and hip bones. For the full description of these movements, check out this video in our Media Library! Circumduction of the head and neck refers to a combined movement in which the head traces a circular path. This motion involves coordination of flexion, extension, lateral flexion, and rotation. During circumduction, the head moves forward, to the sides, and backward, forming a circular motion.💡 Learn human anatomy fast at Anatomy.app!🧠 https://anatomy.app/ #3Danatomy #humananatomy #humanbody #anatomy #anatomyandphysiology #medschool #medstudents #medicaleducation #usmle #edtech #skeletalsystem #osteopath #osteopathy #craniosacral #chiro #chiropractor #occupationaltherapy #craniosacraltherapy #physio #physiotherapy #biomechanics

The trigeminal nerve is the fifth cranial nerve (CN V). It is classified as a mixed nerve containing both sensory and motor fibers. It has three major terminal branches or divisions that emerge from the trigeminal ganglion: 🔸Ophthalmic nerve (CN V1) - sensory nerve; exits the skull via the superior orbital fissure; 🔸Maxillary nerve (CN V2) - sensory nerve; leaves the skull via the foramen rotundum; 🔸Mandibular nerve (CN V3) - mixed nerve; exits the skull via the foramen ovale. The male and female pelvis generally differ in size and shape, with the female pelvis typically being broader to accommodate a baby. While the female pelvis is wider, the male pelvis appears more massive. Additionally, the pelvic inlet is oval and wide in females, whereas it is heart-shaped and narrow in males. The true pelvis in females is broader and shallower, while in males, it is narrower and deeper. The iliac crests in males are positioned higher, giving the male pelvis a more vertical and narrower appearance. Furthermore, the subpubic angle is greater than 90 degrees in females and less than 90 degrees in males.💡 ‼️These are just some key features, but there are additional characteristics that further distinguish the male and female pelvis. As with all anatomical structures, variations exist. Sometimes, only a few of these characteristics are present, or they may be only slightly pronounced. The pancreas is an elongated, soft, lobulated gland of the endocrine system and an accessory organ of the gastrointestinal tract. It is located in the back of the upper abdomen, positioned posterior and inferior to the stomach. It lies between the duodenum and liver on the right and the spleen on the left side. The duodenum surrounds the head of the pancreas.💡 Anatomically, the pancreas is divided into four parts, each associated with distinct anatomical structures.
