Navigating 2024: My Journey of "Viving" This year has been an absolute roller-coaster – spinning up and down, round and round, with unexpected twists and turns. 2024 has definitely had its moments, challenging me in ways I never anticipated. But here's the beautiful truth: I'm still standing, still pushing forward, still trying to make magic manifest. The Birth of "Viving" Pronounced as "Vying" In the midst of these challenges, I discovered something profound – a concept I'm calling "Viving". It's more than just surviving, and not quite fully thriving. "Viving" is that sweet spot in between, where resilience meets potential. Viving (verb): The state of intentionally moving beyond mere survival towards a more purposeful existence. Our Collective Message: As we approach a new year, my message is clear and powerful: "No divide, let's vive so that we can feel the vib in our life." It's about embracing the journey, acknowledging the challenges, but refusing to be defined by them. I'm not just existing – I'm viving. I'm striving to transform, to grow, to expand beyond my current limitations. This isn't just a personal mantra; it's an invitation. An invitation to everyone to step into their own version of "viving" – where survival meets aspiration, where challenges become opportunities. Here's to viving. Here's to us. #vive #thrive #survive #2024 #magic #magickingdom #manifestation #vibe #life

The ballet world mourns the loss of Michaela DePrince, a remarkable dancer whose journey from war-torn Sierra Leone to international stages exemplifies the power of perseverance and talent. Born Mabinty Bangura in 1995, Michaela's early life was marked by hardship. As an orphan in civil war-ravaged Sierra Leone, she faced discrimination due to vitiligo, a condition affecting her skin pigmentation. Despite being cruelly labeled "the devil's child," Michaela's spirit remained unbroken. A teacher's introduction to ballet ignited Michaela's passion for dance, even as tragedy struck with the violent loss of this mentor. Adopted by an American family, Michaela found the opportunity to nurture her talent in the United States. However, she faced new challenges in the form of racial discrimination within the traditionally white-dominated world of ballet. Undeterred, Michaela's talent and dedication propelled her forward. The 2011 documentary "First Position" brought her inspiring story to a global audience. At 17, she made history as the youngest member of the Dance Theatre of Harlem, marking the beginning of an illustrious career. Michaela's journey led her to renowned companies including the Boston Ballet and the Dutch National Ballet. With each performance, she captivated audiences and challenged preconceptions about race in classical dance. Her memoir became a powerful testament to overcoming adversity and pursuing one's passion against all odds. The news of Michaela DePrince's passing at 29 has left the dance world in shock. Her life, short, was lived with incredible intensity and purpose. From a war-torn orphanage to the world's most prestigious stages, Michaela's journey inspired countless individuals to dream big and persevere. As we reflect on Michaela's legacy, we are reminded of the transformative power of art and the importance of representation. Her story will continue to inspire future generations of dancers to push boundaries and challenge societal norms #Blackhistorymonth #MichaelaDuPrince #SierraLeone #AfricanAmerican #FirstPosition #DanceThreatreofHarlem #TheBostonBallet #TheDutchNationalBallet #vitiligo #BlackHistoryMonth
