Regular drills and simulations are essential for effective emergency preparedness. Just like a fighter pilot, employees tend to fall back on their training in high-stress situations—they won't "rise to the occasion" without it. 🛩 From fire evacuations to shelter-in-place scenarios, it's crucial to practice the right response for each type of emergency. For example, while a fire might require an evacuation, an earthquake or active shooter incident could mean staying put. Preparing for these scenarios through regular, realistic simulations helps ensure everyone knows exactly what to do when it counts most. If you don't currently have processes in place to do this, we can help. ⬇️ https://afinidarisk.com/ #riskmanagement #safety

Air travel is safer than ever—U.S. commercial airlines have gone 15 years without a fatal crash. But how did this incredible safety record come to be? This podcast episode breaks it all down and we found it extremely interesting. 👀 WSJ columnist Ben Cohen dives into the voluntary self-reporting programs that revolutionized airline safety. Joined by former FAA and International Civil Aviation Organization executive William Voss, they explore how honest reporting and a culture of learning transformed aviation. Our favorite questions they ask...Could the airline industry's approach to safety serve as a model for other fields? If you're interested in building a workplace culture where safety thrives, this episode is full of insights and great food for thought. https://lnkd.in/exnWdvQW #safetyculture https://shha.re/s08TE

Starting to report near misses is a great start, but don't stop there. Build out a consistent system where those reports are shared with your entire team. The insights are invaluable from these types of reports and can be a powerful prevention tool for potential accidents. #safetyreports #workplacesafety

Safety Book Rec 📕 "Safe by Accident?" dives into behavior-based safety and explores how leadership practices directly impact the effectiveness of workplace safety programs. Agnew and Daniels offer practical insights on how managers can shift safety from a matter of chance to a matter of consistent, proactive action. Our favorite part of this book is its focus on leadership development. It's not just about implementing safety programs—it's about leading by example and creating a workplace where safety is second nature. If you're looking for new ways to grow as a leader and improve the safety of your organization, this should be your next read! Save this post for later and share it with a fellow leader who could use it. 👍 #safety #riskmanagement

When it comes to workplace safety, actions speak louder than words. Employees are more likely to follow safety protocols when they see a strong organizational commitment to safety—not just in policies, but in practice. If you want your team to be committed to safety, they need to have practical ways to implement it on a daily basis and see leadership doing the same. Need help moving in this direction in your organization? See how we can help. ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/e2KV8DCH #riskmanagement #safetyculture

Have you ever seen a "close call" at work? Maybe a tool slipped, but no one got hurt. Or a spill almost caused a fall. These are what we call "near misses," and they're important to track because they're warning signs and a chance to fix a potential issue before it becomes a real problem. What exactly qualifies as a near miss? It's any unplanned event that could have caused injury, damage, or loss but (thankfully) didn't. A few examples: 🔺 A ladder shifts unexpectedly, but no one falls. 🔺 A piece of equipment malfunctions but doesn't result in damage. 🔺 A spill is cleaned up quickly before anyone slips. By reporting near misses, we can identify hidden risks and make our workplace safer for everyone. If you see something, don't brush it off—report it! #safetyculture #safetyatwork

This time of year, workplace safety is more important than ever. Be sure temporary workers have been properly trained for potential dangers and keep a close eye on the fatigue level of your team. Being aware is the first step to preventing potential accidents. #holidayseason #safetyriskmanagement
