The final day of the 𝗔𝗿𝗴𝘂𝘀 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗳𝘂𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 & 𝗘𝘅𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 is buzzing with activity here in London. This morning, we gained valuable insights from ISCC - International Sustainability and Carbon Certification during a session focused on transparency and certifications. How are emerging low-carbon fuels and innovations shaping the industry? This topic was explored in a panel featuring CFP Energy (Fr), St1 Nordic Oy, and Preem AB. After a networking coffee break, Galp presented how leading oil companies are gearing up for the energy transition, followed by a discussion about the European renewable methanol sector with Liquid Wind and Octopus Energy. Our JRC-Seville team is hiring. We are looking for an experienced economist in the field of agriculture and development economics in Africa, at the micro-economic level. She/he will contribute to the provision of scientific evidence about the sustainable transition of food systems in Africa, the adoption of sustainable practices including agro-ecology, international agricultural supply chains and living income of smallholders, and socio-economic impacts of policies, using qualitative tools (mostly data collection, econometrics and economic modelling) at micro level (farm-household). This project provides a unique opportunity to interact with both policy-makers and the scientific community, for academic contributions and for publications. Here is our approach to understanding varietal trait preferences for improved seed varieties. Our approach aims to create a more targeted, demand-led, and inclusive varietal development and delivery in the future. It is a complex landscape where traditional dichotomous categories fall short. I’m thrilled to announce that I have officially graduated after successfully defending my thesis in Bonn, Germany, and completing my double MSc in Agricultural, Food, and Environmental Policy Analysis (AFEPA). Thanks to the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degree (EMJMD) scholarship, I earned a Master of Sciences in Business and Economics with a major in Economics from SLU and Uppsala University in Sweden, and a Master of Sciences in Agriculture and Bio-industries, professional focus, from UCLouvain in Belgium. I’m incredibly grateful to my family and friends for their unwavering support, and to my thesis supervisors, Prof. Goedele Van den Broeck and Dr. Lina Tennhardt, for their invaluable guidance throughout my research.
