Hear from our partners! "As a private practice audiologist, I would not be able to offer cochlear implant programming to my patients without the services provided by our local Advanced Bionics Cochlear Implant Consumer Specialist (CICS), Gretchen. In our business, customer service and patient experience is of the upmost importance and I can trust that Gretchen will treat my patients like I would to ensure they are getting the most out of their devices. When I refer my patient to Gretchen, I know they are being taken care of, their questions are being answered, and they are being offered the support that I simply am unable to extend due to the insurance reimbursement for my time. In private practice we have to ensure we are intentional with our time or we cannot keep the lights on. The support Gretchen offers my patients, ensures that nothing is falling through the cracks, things are being followed-up with, and that candidates and existing users are being supported. I can say with confidence that some of my most successful CI users are implanted because of Gretchen's encouragement and support. They would have continued to put it off without it and these are the same people who often say "why didn't I do this sooner?" I reply with, "because you hadn't met us (my team, Gretchen, and Aggie) yet!" FAQ series, part 2/5: Is this MRI compatible? Magnetic Resonance Imaging, or MRI, is a widely utilized and important tool that is used to take images of all parts of the body so doctors can diagnose different conditions. Since cochlear implants contain a magnet, this introduces a potential problem for MRI scans. As you can imagine, a magnet gets pulled when placed in a strong magnetic field, such as in and around an MRI machine. That pull, or torque, can cause the magnet to move inside your head, which can cause pain and even potential damage. The first of its kind, the HiRes Ultra 3D implant’s unique design allows adults and children to safely have high-resolution imaging, such as 3.0 Tesla MRIs, without any preparation, surgery, or head bandaging. The innovative multi-magnet assembly within this implant spins in place under torque, so the implant itself won’t be put under pressure. Bilateral AB cochlear implant wearer Ryan Carstairs has been awarded ‘Great Britain Deaf Swimming Club’s Andrew Rees Award’ for his volunteer work within the sport. Ryan recently joined the Ripple Effect project from @UK_Deaf_Sport and recently progressed to level 1 judge in training after completing the theory element. He’s done this alongside studying for an A-level in photography and a diploma in sports studies as well as caring for his mum and being a competitive swimmer himself. It adds to Ryan’s recent honour at the Sport and Recreation Alliance’s National Awards where he was awarded ‘Inspiration of the Year’ and his nomination as a finalist at the Swim England National Awards in November. He was presented with the award at GB Deaf Swimming Club's annual championships in April. Ryan said: “Wow, Wow! I was totally shocked to receive this prize. I just love helping people and love swimming so to win an award for doing this is incredible.” Ryan is now waiting to start his Level 2 Swimming Teacher training soon. Thank you so much for sharing your story – what an amazing achievement. Well done Ryan! Hear from our partners! "Greg, our AB Cochlear Implant Consumer Specialist (CICS), has helped our cochlear implant center grow by connecting us with future recipients and outside referring clinics, but also allowing our Audiologists to minimize their non-billable time. By sending our patients to Greg for device and technology selection, we can focus our time on testing thus reducing our evaluation appointment time by 30 minutes. The patients get a much better experience talking with someone directly from the manufacturer who is well versed in the technology." FAQ series, part 1/5: What are my Cochlear Implant Options? As a consumer, it is important for you to have options regarding the brand of cochlear implant you choose. So, ask your surgeon if they offer multiple options. The vast majority of cochlear implant clinics offer technologies from all three of the major cochlear implant manufacturers. If the surgeon states that the clinic offers fewer than three, ask why. Are you looking to learn more about cochlear implants for yourself or a loved one? Or do you have a cochlear implant question you’d like to ask? Get in touch with us: https://lnkd.in/e_ATF5br #CochlearImplants #AdvancedBionics

Scroll down for English 👇 “Hallo, mein Name ist Ellen Smit. On January 10, 2024, I had a sudden hearing loss at night. After an emergency operation in the nearest major hospital and subsequent one-week cortisone infusion therapy, my hearing unfortunately did not return and I am completely deaf on the right side. On April 2, 2024, I was fitted with a Marvel cochlear implant from AB at Frankfurt University Hospital. On the left, I wear the matching Naída Link hearing aid from @Phonak. 😌 My husband now calls me his cyber girl and of course I wear it visibly and in pink. Once a princess, always a princess.🤩 I am grateful for the opportunities that AB and Phonak have given me. 🙏🏻 There's even a great aqua kit for swimming, which I use every day at the outdoor pool in summer. I'm still at the beginning of my hearing journey and I'm optimistic and excited to see how it develops. 💪🏼🍀Thank you for the great work AB is doing.
