This year's Stuff the Truck was a huge success! With the amazing support from Kiss 104.1, Wsb Radio, 97.1 FM The River, and B98.5, we are able to provide 12,272 meals for families in need. Thank you to everyone who contributed and ensured our neighbors have food on their tables this holiday season!

Though Hurricane Helene rained out the 37th annual AAA Food-a-Thon parade, our friends at the Atlanta Apartment Association proved they're still "Superheroes Against Hunger"! From hosting a Poker Tournament and Sip 'N Stroll fundraiser, to organizing days of service, to throwing a fabulous 70's-themed Can Can Ball, they rallied association members, residents and vendors from across metro Atlanta to provide the equivalent of 5.3 million meals for neighbors in need. Thank you, Atlanta Apartment Association, for heroically supporting our mission each and every year!

We are proud to collaborate and partner with Elevance Health and Feeding America as part of the latest iteration of their #FoodAsMedicine program. These initiatives aren’t just supporting our anti-hunger movement; they’re improving the lives and health outcomes of our neighbors. Thanks to this collaboration, the Food Bank is able to continue our work with Grady Health System to address both chronic disease and food insecurity among Grady patients through the Jesse Hill Market. #FeedingAmerica #HealthEquity 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eP_eqC8b
Did you know that the #FoodAsMedicine partnership between Feeding America the Elevance Health Foundation supports 21 food banks to advance healthcare partnership interventions? By linking food assistance with medical support, the partnership is improving access to nutritious food and enhancing health and well-being for people facing food insecurity. Here’s how: 🔍 Comprehensive Screenings: More than 529,000 people have been screened for food insecurity during healthcare visits. 🤝 Supportive Referrals: Nearly 90,000 people who tested positive for food insecurity were referred to Food as Medicine programming, and 15,000 were referred to SNAP. 🍎 Nutritious Food Assistance: More than 76,000 people have received wholesome food assistance, prioritizing low-sodium, whole grains, and fresh produce options to support health. 🏥 Healthcare Partnerships: 21 food banks work with local clinics and medical centers to reach those in need, integrating food assistance with critical healthcare services. 📈 Positive Outcomes: Programs like The Food Farmacy at Regional Food Bank of Northeast NY, in partnership with St. Peter's Health Partners, witnessed significant health improvements among participants, including stabilized A1C levels and improved weight management. This #WorldDiabetesDay, we’re focusing on how diabetes impacts communities worldwide, especially those struggling with food insecurity. Limited access to healthy food can increase both the risk and severity of diabetes. Raising awareness and access to resources is key to fighting this disease. We partnered with the Latin American Association to share a Spanish video, where Vanessa and special guest Melisa Nichols discuss insights about diabetes, a delicious recipe, and resources from the Latin American Association’s free diabetes prevention program.
