  • This is a comment from someone who read my book - "Somebody Should Tell the Story" - "I bought the book, so well written and a real lesson on how a person can be born with so many disadvantages and with the love of a mother and so many caring people Dennis could live such a fruitful and meaningful life. I highly recommend this is a must read." If interested in the book, go to acallingpublishingllc.com to order a softcover book or an e-book on Kindle or Apple.

  • Aspiro's interim President - Katie Doble - sent out her year-end newsletter with a list of Highlights and Milestones of 2024. Katie wrote the following in her newsletter about one of the Highlights and Milestones of 2024: “Somebody Should Tell The Story”: Tom Anderson authored a heartfelt book celebrating the life and legacy of Dennis Rasmussen, a long-time client at Aspiro who passed away in 2010. Each year, we honor Dennis with the Dennis Rasmussen Memorial Bowl-a-Thon. Books are available for purchase at Aspiro-Dousman or online.

  • Two readers of my book, "Somebody Should Tell the Story", a true story about Dennis Rasmussen, who had an intellectual disability yet positively impacted so many people, had this to say: "The story about Dennis was inspiring and compassionate. Well done. Dennis must have been a remarkable person. Thanks for making me think about what's next?" "I both teared up and laughed out loud" as I read "Somebody Should Tell the Story". Thank you for the inspiring read. Thank you for the questions presented throughout the book to make me think." For example: Do you ever think about someone you were once close to earlier in your life? So, who should you try to reconnect with soon? How many times do you jump to conclusions based on a slice of the information or story? What actions can you take now to start on the path to create your legacy? What will the many slices of your story be when someone tells your story? What's next? When I decided to write the book about Dennis, I had a calling to help tell his story. And I hoped the readers of the book, would learn from Dennis' story and apply those learnings to their own life circumstances. The two people above and their comments make me feel good about helping to tell Dennis' story and the thinking the readers are applying to their own lives. If you or someone you know would be interested in reading, "Somebody Should Tell the Story", you can go to my website - acallingpublishingllc.com - to order a soft cover book or to order an electronic version of the book through Amazon/Kindle or Apple. In the Green Bay area, the book is available at two book stores - Lions Mouth and Bosses. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Tom Anderson

  • Here is an update on some recent book orders - "Somebody Should Tell the Story", an actual story about Dennis Rasmussen, who had an intellectual disability and positively impacted so many people. The Lutsey Foundation purchased and donated 90 books for local businesses in the Green Bay area; a West De Pere school bought 10 books for their teachers who focus on classes for graded special needs students; and a number of former high school classmates bought books - many who knew or had heard of Dennis. Any proceeds above our book costs will be donated to Aspiro, where Dennis was a client and an employee. The book is also now available at Lion's Mouth Bookstore in Green Bay and Bosses' Book Store in De Pere. You can also purchase books through my website - acallingpublishingllc.com - get a softcover book (delivered by me in the Green Bay area or shipped anywhere in the country) or e-books through Kindle or Apple. If you think about needing Christmas gifts for someone, the book would be a great present. The key themes of the book are being an advocate; compassion; connection; an empowering community to help others; overcoming stereotypes and barriers; and seeking inclusion. I think anyone can learn from Dennis' story and apply those learning to one's own life circumstances. I do not think you need to be from Green Bay to get value from the book. If you ever have any questions or comments, you can contact me at 920-562-4877. Thanks. Tom

  • Attended a Jr. Berendsen event on September 20th. The event was a get together for many of Jr.'s friends from over the years together with a pre-party for Premontre's 50-year class reunion which occurred the next day. Jr. invited my wife and I to this event to tell others about the book I have written titled, "Somebody Should Tell the Story", about Dennis Rasmussen, who had an intellectual disability. Many in attendance had read the book and thanked me for helping to tell Dennis' story. Others bought the book because they wanted to know more about Dennis, his life and the positive impact he had on others. Attached is a picture of Jr. and myself.

  • Spoke to three classes at Notre Dame Academy on Monday, May 20th. Two of the three classes were with Freshmen Honors English students and their teacher, Carolyn Brown. Carolyn had her class read three chapters from the book, "Somebody Should Tell the Story". Her students wanted to ask Mark Wescott (recently retired from Aspiro) and me some questions about Dennis and the book. A number of these Freshmen students told Carolyn, that if Dennis could have that kind of a positive impact on people that they should be able to have a similar positive impact on people. The book's message is getting through. Thank you also to Notre Dame President Tom Kiely, Executive Director of Business and Operations Ken Flaten, and Child Development and Social Studies teacher Julie Campbell. Thanks again to the donors of the books to Notre Dame Academy. Below is a picture of one of the Freshmen Honors English class.

This is dependent on how quickly Apple's system approves each step I have to go through, but I will keep you updated as I go. Once the eBook is also on Apple I will send you a PDF that has login information for both accounts along with a brief overview of them. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. Thank you!  Emily
