Building rapport shouldn’t feel like an additional task; it should be a natural effort to create a positive and collaborative workplace. 2.Have informal one-on-one/small group discussions. These interactions not only provide insights but also show that you value their input. 3.Use meetings to address recurring or significant concerns raised during informal conversations. Offer actionable solutions or invite suggestions from the team. 4.Start by asking open-ended questions. Once a few team members start speaking up, others will feel more comfortable contributing.

Psychological safety is extremely important. If people don't feel safe to share, they won't. Framing the participation and why their voice is important helps. Round tables can be good, to encourage everyone to add/agree/disagree and why and come to a collective decision. Sometimes though, people simply feel intimidated or nervous to share in front of a group and prefer 1-1 sessions. Make sure you know your people and try to develop their confidence to speak up in groups over time.
