Know your audience. You should always be able to adjust your pitch a bit so that it talks to that audience. Be passionate and entertaining, so that the ones that listen want to ask more. Don’t try to get to everyone, when you know your goals you can adjust to attract those that you look for

Know your value, know your prospects and their needs, know your elevator pitch… and then the key; know when to bring it out (when it is time, when it comes up naturally in conversation, or not at all)

Be sensitive to those you are speaking to, be aware of where their interest may lie and always be honest and genuine - humour also helps.

The key is to make it simple, memorable and short. And then learn it so that you can repeat it when you least expect to use it.

You have to know more about audiences, get feed back from there eyes during event, don't speak a lot about your achievements. Make your decision and answers short and helpful.

Once you know the background of the person in front of you, you can talk of the hurting problem areas in their domain, and build up on it. Then suggest how your solution works to wipe out those problems.

My experience is that when networking, it's more important for me to engage the other person first. Learn more about them, their interests, their passions. Establish some rapport based upon their background and context, and then relate how your interests align or differ. "Good Lord gave us two ears and one mouth, and we should use them in that proportion." Zig Ziglar.

Be real and authentic . For me it shows in your body language when you show your belief in your people and proposition . Being precise and clear what value you bring and what it means to them . Use examples and bring it to life

I’ve learned to watch the room. People do switch off, get distracted and just give up the will to listen. Be clear, who you are, what you do and what’s in it for them if they become a client. It’s not about selling at this point, it’s more of a conversation to help build a relationship. A simple next steps, call to action or a ‘who do you know’ can be the invite they were looking for.
