Consistency is pivotal for any leadership. Even in sports for a great player one needs to be consistent. There are many ingredients required to become consistent in thought leadership. It starts with discipline, honing skills, sacrifice, protecting originality, vision, honesty and sincerity and so on. The sum of all of these will become one’s personal brand. Messaging is more an outcome or a presentation layer. If the base is established well the presentation is bound to be great. There is no doubt about that.

Be yourself! Make sure to always speak or write from your own experience, ideas and beliefs. Give examples that your peers can relate too, and share what you have learned as a result. Put yourself in your audience's shoes and make sure that what you are saying will give them actual value. Use practical, conversational language, and keep it very authentic.

In order to convey a consistent message, I have a schedule that requires me to communicate 3 ideas or facts a week. I also try to diversify the messages based on the most important topics within the sectors in which I intervene: water, global affairs, business and education.
